April 2026
I am 14 hours into playing. There are some definite perks to this game. It can be very relaxing, the graphics are beautiful and I've enjoyed most of what I've played. There have been a few glitches. I played the demo and liked it enough to buy it when it released. But here are some pros and cons - Pros - Beautiful graphics - Lots of things to look at and see - A lot of animals and plants to take pictures of - Love filling in my lexicon - Very relaxing and interesting Cons - Can be a bit glitchy still - Can feel repetitive after awhile, same quests given over and over - Limited number of tasks to do - Quests are repetitive - Vehicle very difficult to keep on the road - No preview of quest locations The office will continuously have you doing tasks, which makes sense but you only have like 30 seconds to accept it with no preview of where it is located. Often times, the tasks are so far apart, you don't have time to get to them before the day ends. When the next day starts the task is gone. There is no penalty for not sleeping, but to work so hard to get half way to a task then not make it and have it disappear, just to have them assign another task far away from where you currently are is irritating. And it happens repeatedly. Tasks should be limited to the area you are in. Because you only have until the end of the day, you feel pressured to skip all the tasks you find as your running around to get to it, such as picking up trash and fixing things. Or stopping to look for wildlife or plants to picture. I find myself turning off the office task requests frequently and just wandering around different trails to take photos and do any tasks I come across. I also frequently check permits and answer the questions. The NPCs only have a few lines and sometimes they just don't make sense. Overall, I do like the game. I will continue to play it and hope they continue to update it and provide better content. As it is, it's a good game, but does need to continue to upgrade and improve the content.

Let me start off by saying that I'm an IRL Park Ranger. This game has a lot of potential and I HAD to buy it just to support the very idea of a game about my job and all its quirks. The setting and scenery of the game so far is nice, the missions and mechanics are simple (a little overly so, but it is EA) and while checking permits all the time and getting stopped every 5 seconds to get asked about some random thing can be annoying...it's also realistic. That being said, the game is a little clunky, and the jump mechanic would be nice especially climbing over fences. I'd like to see a "night patrol" option that's either more law enforcement or search and rescue oriented in the future, that'd be cool. There's so many ways to take this game it'd be great - leading guided tours or interpretive programs, a "specialization" track where you can build your career towards either Law enforcement, managing or interpretation, etc. I'm excited for the possibilities! All in all, in its current form the game is playble, has good graphics for what it is (though like I said, its pretty laggy at times) and provides a map worth exploring. Looking forward to the game's growth!

I spent the past couple years camping every weekend at different parks across the country so during the winter months, this is exactly what I need. But ... You need to slow down the clock. It's forcing us to run everywhere to get the jobs done in time. I want to see cars on the road and I want to be able to stop speeders and ticket them. The trash just appears. One of those visitors put it there. I'd like to be able to see litter happen and cite them for it. In turn, if you wanted to go deeper, we could add cans where litter happens a lot and bring down the amount of litter that happens once these NPCs realize they'll get a ticket for it. Why won't that bear attack me? I've given it so many chances. Also, the bear should probably swat before it stands up. We have to be able to step or climb over things. The whole the ranger can't climb thing looks dumb. Bear proof trash cans. It doesn't make sense to have regular. No national parks do that. At least, I dont think they do. Indiana does. But Indiana is filthy and they dont have bears. There's gonna need to be some fine tuning to make this a four to five star game for me. Three stars in its current state.

I am really enjoying this game. It is very relaxing and fun. I do agree with other reviews that say we need more transportation. Most of the game is on foot. It seems like this would be a non issue for me if we could slow down time. The days seem to move too fast. Speaking of time, we need a way to pause it. The beauty of single player games is being able to pause them while we refill our coffee or take a phone call. The menu button does not stop the time from moving. You have to save and exit to the main menu in order to take a short break. I feel like if we had more control of the time, we wouldn't be as worried about trekking it on foot. Overall, things I do enjoy are fixing the trails, photography of animals and plants, and being able to harass the visitors for permit access or giving the instructions when I am feeling more helpful than hurtful :) Also, can we get a mirror in the bathroom at the ranger huts? Even if non functional, just throw something up there so it pieces the bathroom together. Right there above the sink, where you can tell someone thought about it, but didn't quite commit. And with the amount of time before at the end of the shift, it would be nice if we could do more in the huts like play some darts or something. Feels like a lot of wasted evening time after a days work. Wonderful job on this game overall, and am looking forward to wasting many hours running around in this beautiful place.

Game is super enjoyable, if you like cleaning up after guests and repairing things you'll enjoy it. My only complaint is the map is so massive and you can't fast travel anywhere. You have to mostly run on foot but the quests will send you all over the map. You do have a vehicle, but you can only access the road with the vehicle not any of the trails. Real rangers at least have an ATV or something to be able to access those far trails. It would be beneficial to have a halfway point fast travel spot or a means to get to areas easier like an ATV or even a bike. Also you will get visitors who ask for information but there's no way to see which visitor it is unless you go up to each person and check if they have questions. Adding a question mark or something above the NPC's head would be easier to identify who needs help. I also haven't been having any crashes or bugs that other players are experiencing. EDIT TO ADD: There apparently is fast traveling between ranger camps in the game so that is something but still lots of distance in between.
