Goat Simulator 3 is a very silly open world physics sandbox style game. I originally got it to play with my daughter when she was 6. She is now 8, almost 9, and still loves to return to this game often. We completed the original game together, and have purchased both expansions that have released to date, the Multiverse and the Baadlands. Though we haven't put much time into Baadlands yet, I can say with confidence that the base game and the Multiverse are both excellent. There are so many pop culture references in all of the games that adults with any attention to detail and a love of video games will notice them right away. The opening of the base game is classic Skyrim and made me laugh immediately. That just set the tone for me and I loved the rest of it. The Multiverse opening is a riff on the original Half Life and there have been numerous references to Deep Rock Galactic, another Coffee Stain published game. The gameplay itself is not super deep. You can run. You can headbutt and kick. You can...do tricks...and grind?! Okay, there is more to it than you would initially believe. There are a frankly insane amount of powerups to collect in the form of gear. The gear you wear you can wear for aesthetic reasons or keep the powerups turned on and truly break the game. Some of these gear items can be found in the world and simply collected. Others you need to complete quest objectives to unlock. Finally, some of them can be purchased in an in game store with currency (no microtransactions to be found here, thank the Lord.) You can bring your rig to its knees if you're not careful. One such incident had my daughter infinitely spawning in basketballs at this basketball court we came across. She continuously headbutted the button that shot out balls on the court until we had her Steam Deck in single digit frame rates. It was quite entertaining to observe. This is a great game for kids, especially, as the stakes are low. You can't die. If you fall you can get back up or re-spawn. There is no "failure" of any kind. You just play, explore, collect stuff, experiment with powerups and fun costumes, and do goat things. Which basically means you cause as much chaos as humanly...I mean goatly possible. My only gripe is that some of the mission objectives are too vague, and the game does not hold your hand in showing you what must be done. The more you can think like a goat the more likely you will be to complete them. But in some instances I needed to consult a guide. If you are a sadist and want to unlock EVERYTHING, plan to consult a guide. It is mainly the collectibles that prove particularly tricky to find. But if you take your time and just explore the map slowly for fun, chances are good that you will find most of them. 10/10 for what it is. It makes my daughter and I laugh every time I play.

I absolutely love this game. I am a nurse, and my entire life is pretty serious. This is the most unserious game ever, and I love that. I have played this nonstop, even to the point of resetting my progress so that I can find everything again. This game helps me get through the really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things. Anxiety has absolutely taken over my life, and the stupidness of this game helps ease the tension. I hope they make more DLCs soon! I have completed both DLCs and reset progress on them as well.

This is peak gaming. It will go down in the history books as a key example of the essence of what a video game is. Ever wanted to play a game, but can't decide which? Goat Simulator 3. Like easter eggs and wish they came in cartons of 1200? Goat Simulator 3. Only have 5 minutes, but still want to feel accomplished? Goat Simulator 3. Crave something funny that everyone ages 3-350+ can enjoy? Goat Simulator 3. Want to roam with purpose, but no goal? Goat Simulator 3. Need a reminder that humans are basically good? Goat Simulator 3. You play open world games for the world, couldn't care less about quests? Goat Simulator 3. Still want quests, but zero responsibility? Goat Simulator 3. Feel like all of the above, but together? Goat Simulator 3 multiplayer. It's funny, it's rich, it's good looking, charming, full of humor, and was clearly, clearly made by people who both play and enjoy video games themselves, who put real work into it. As an avid Skyrim player, it also had me laughing 3 seconds after starting my first play. Can't think of anyone I wouldn't recommend it to. It also works flawlessly on Linux. Someone told me my reviews are usually negative. I said "Yeah, but i'm grumpy and everything annoys me, so at least if I give a good review then it must be good?". Goat Simulator 3. GOAT means Greatest Of All Time. Three.
