March 2026
Platform puzzler par excellence which had sat in my list of shame but got unearthed because of another great game by the same dev. And although puzzle platformers aren't my bag, I really got on with this one. If you like the genre, I suspect you'll love it. I dunno if the concept is unique but it was refreshing to me - on a medieval quest for fortune & glory you'll be required to sacrifice your knights on purpose so their withering bodies can help the next brave warrior progress, for instance by climbing up their impaled corpse to avoid spiky outcrops, or leaving their soul-less carcass on a button or lever to allow their following foppish cavalier to progress to a new level. But there's a lot to make this game stand out. Firstly, the art, sound and game design are beautifully created; this is an immensely playable game that 'feels' good while remaining simple in principal while looking and sounding premium level. Really well made. And then there's the backstory and lore. Each doomed challenger has a unique name and many have a lineage, so over time you'll meet family members and sons of sons - and still kill them. Some of this plays into the games achievements, which are cleverly constructed and oftentimes devious. And when I said earlier that this the game's premise was simple, do not for one second think I mean easy! Once you've been taught the basics your noggin will be expected to use it's full capacity as you progress, and especially for the hidden levels. Finally, there are a lot of levels and a lot of content here so, although speedruns are encouraged and rewarded, you'll need a good few hours to nail the base game. After that you can think about the leaderboards and gold stars for speed and minimising deaths. There's a lot to think about! Heartily recommended, clearly a game made by pros, and a delight to play

Played on OG 512 Steam Deck without issues. Haven’t finished thus but it’s one I visit often briefly. It’s a fun puzzle game.

I personally enjoyed the levels/puzzles. However I think some of the achievements were annoying to get. Overall I liked the game.

Wow, what an adventure, the first I have played in which you are trying to die (to a certain extent) rather than avoiding it. This game gives new meaning to "over my dead body" or "you're dead meat!" Admittedly, this was way above my pay grade from "The Ruins" on and I relied a lot on walkthroughs, otherwise I'd still be trying to figure out the correct sequences of knobs, buttons, zombie runs and cannon shots to get me out of those fixes. Overall, I loved this game and even the end credits are a hoot!
