Despite the cozy theme and cutsey graphics, it's surprisingly difficult. Well, it's not *as* difficult as its inspiration, the Golden Idol series, but the twee, cozy, anime visuals mislead you into thinking that this will be a casual entry into this genre. Far from it! Some cases require serious study and re-examination of the clues. As a general rule, I prefer to gouge out my eyes rather than watch anime or indulge in this Kawaii hogwash, but it's surprisingly well done here. The visuals are well drawn and animated, a lot of love and attention has been put into the visual presentation of the game. The sound design has also received a similar amount of attention. The major flaw in the game is the narrative, or the complete lack of one. Usually these cozy games have something going for them, some low-stakes drama in the background. But here's it's just a mishmash of random vignette scenes from a university student's life with a vague connection of the all important group project, there's barely a story or plot there, there's absolutely no overaching mystery to solve. It's just a series of unimportant cases to solve. The journal does try to embellish and transition between the scenes but it's not a very effective or convincing glue. An upside is that the cases themselves are interested. There's 10, and each one has a unique twist on the formula, meaning the game doesn't repeat itself. In terms of the genre, it's as surprisingly close clone of the Golden Idol series. It even includes the "desk that accrues random movie clips and letters between cases", which a lot of other Idol-likes seem to leave out. However it fails to learn some key lessons from the Golden Idol series, and the main one is that the journal into which you enter clues is not modal and does not sit atop the interactive screen, instead it displaces it, so if you wish to transcribe a clue from somewhere 3 deep (e.g. a book in a bag on a person's inventory) then you either need a great memory or have to click 4 times to reopen the damn clue. Overall, it's a decent foray into the Idol-like genre. With a little bit of TLC in terms of story it could have been one of the standout games, instead it's more of a tail chaser. Miscellany: * The typewriting text is annoying, it's not even per-character, they're slowly revealing the text a pixel at a time by a little sliding window. It looks so cheap. They need to switch to the per-word method. I just set it to instant, but even that was a tad annoying in the timing and clicking. * I quite liked playing with location hints off, but I also want them on. Perhaps a hotkey to turn the hints on and off? * Why are the sticky notes cross-scene? What use is that? * Despite saying the visual are great, I want to gripe that I think there's different artists, as the style and depiction of characters seems to waver. * The game wants you to reidentify people a lot. I suspect that's to help you figure out who is who in the different styles!

Cozy detective game about nothing important. Takes the Golden Idol gameplay and puts it in a new context. The puzzles/deductions aren't very difficult (expect the last level, that one was a doozy) and it's all very low stakes. Kinda relaxing and takes your mind off all of life's bigger issues for a while, so that's nice. Not super invested in the story, but frankly it's only there to introduce new "cases" and the overall arch isn't really that important or interesting; In fact it only affects two scenarios. Cozy, fun, and slightly challenging.

A very sweet detective game with a light to moderate level of challenge. It's surprisingly refreshing to have the deductive reasoning be about light, everyday problems instead of grim murders and demons taking over the world or whatever. The different types of information you have to figure out are quite varied all of them tie in well to the cute aesthetic.

If you like detective games but wish they were cute and not insanely difficult, this is the game for you! I was able to 100% it with not much difficulty. I had so much fun playing and hope they add more cases or make a sequel one day

Very short game overall, but the atmosphere and feelings while playing are 100000% amazing. Wish there were more cases already! Some of the puzzles were genuinely hard to guess and I had to brute force them unfortunately. The trailer does not fully match up with the gameplay however, do keep this in mind. I feel the trailer was made before some things got changed, maybe this is also why it feels like I'm missing some context clues in certain levels if they changed some clues/gameplay nearing release. I'd give this game a 8.3/10
