Not bad. I enjoy these "Solve mysteries in a fake OS" type games like Orwell, The Operator, Hypnospace Outlaw, Hacknet, etc. The fake Apple System 6-esque desktop environment is super charming. I will say that this game ends up lower on the totem pole than those games for a variety of reasons, but the biggest one is simply the lack of actual discovery. 80% of the information you need to solve the mystery you have access to from the start of the game before you even send in your first research paper. There is nothing stopping you from opening every wiki page the game has to offer and solving the mystery before you've even "started". Because of this, the games story becomes *painfully* obvious before even the halfway mark if you're approaching it the way you would other games of the same genre. The story doesn't really unfold, it's just there. You're pretty much just putting names to events you already knew happened, which makes the latter half of the game kind of a slog. You're not learning anything new, or going to find new pages, you're just filling out a form. Regardless, for 5 bucks, I literally can't not recommend this. Get it if you want an hour or so of good brain usage.

the streamers secret sleepover society were going to play this and i saw it and went "oh that looks cool i want to play that before i watch". i was so right to, the mystery is a lot of fun to piece together, and its visually a very cool game. i enjoyed the hoops you had to jump through to activate the hint system, it really gave me pause to use it when i got stuck and helped me work through it all :) incredible game, i hope the devs make more like this

Things I wish I knew before purchasing: There is only one mystery. One wiki with just over a dozen pages and one entity to investigate. By the 5th chapter, you will have access to and have read everything in the game. There are no jumpscares. That being said, it's an enjoyable story and wonderfully stylized. Simply put, it left me wanting more. It's not a very hard mystery to solve, but it's good enough for what it is. It's very solid. Noting at all wrong for it. and I hope the dev goes on to do more in a similar style, if not a sequel.

A pretty good, but flawed, detective game where you search a wiki for clues and information to solve the mystery regarding a slavic town and the tragedies that keep happening there. The main story is pretty good, but I feel it did kind of fumbled the last part of the story. The game kind of grinds to a halt in the second half of the game and very little new is learned and some facts that we already knew keep getting repeated. There where a few places where the translation felt a bit jank, but it was not a big deal. The price is alright for what is a around 2 hour experience. Just don't expect The Roottrees are Dead or Case of the Golden Idol and you will probably enjoy what is here. I can definitly see that there will be more games in this series in the future with a similar mechanics, the name of the game does hint at the fact that they have a series of wiki mysteries planed, and it was good enough that I will check out this devs other games in the future.

In Lost Wiki: Kozlovka , you're hired to investigate a series of small-town tragedies using only a limited database and grainy photos. Although it's minimalist and very short, I can't resist a browser-based detective game and was instantly smitten with the digital-Blair-Witch vibes. There are no spoilers in this review. Gameplay + Details Click hyperlinks to navigate a wiki while dragging key terms into blank spaces of a report. Submit reports to receive a new email, new report, and occasional clues. (Reminder to fellow Americans that most countries format dates as DD/MM.) Controls. Mouse + Keyboard recommended. Playtime. ~1-2 hours, depending on reading speed/notes. Settings/Options. Options to turn off CRT Effect, Dithering, and/or Red Ghosting. What Works For Me ✅ The retro vibes, hints of occult, and subtle music are - chef's kiss . ✅ A built-in flow chart lets you quickly navigate the wiki. ✅ Kozlovka has quite the storied past. ✅ Story is introduced well and entirely self-contained. ✅ Three possible endings. Game resets to before final report. What Doesn't Work For Me 🟥 No real need to take notes, if you're into that kinda thing. 🟥 The last several reports felt obvious and repetitive. 🟥 No real red herrings or superfluous tangents. 🟥 Obviously no replayability. Final Thoughts + Recommendation I enjoyed my brief time with Lost Wiki: Kozlovka ; in fact, my main complaint is that there isn't more to find. Where similar titles might drown you in unnecessary information or lead you astray with red herrings, each article in Lost Wiki is only a few paragraphs and contributes to the overall plot. As a result, the story builds tantalizingly slowly at first only to come together all at once -- and well before the final report. That said, the story is interesting and twisty enough to keep you on your toes for a bit, with some cleverly disguised clues and no dangling threads. Also, I love the database design; dev yattytheman took full advantage of stock photos and shaders to create a truly unique aesthetic. I recommend giving this a go if you're looking for something bite-sized and vaguely [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/2754380/The_Roottrees_are_Dead/?curator_clanid=45365863]Roottrees -ish.
