Thanks to Jacob and Julia from Secret Sleepover Society for bringing this to my attention. This game has the vibes I like mixed with the platforming I like. Would recommend for the story alone. Would also recommend for the platforming alone. A real beautiful mashup.

I... I don't know where to even begin. I think I felt just about every emotion I can name in the span of 2.5 hours. Listen, I am not exactly what you'd call a precision platformer fan. Personally, I find difficult platforming to be frustrating, and if the controls don't feel very responsive, I'm likely to just give up on the game. This game? I would say it's responsive, but it's floaty. Momentum matters. Timing is tricky. It's mechanically simple, but not easy to execute. I think for what it is it's well designed, but if I had to play a dozen hours of levels like this it would get old and I would probably not be recommending the game to people. But that's the thing. LOVE ETERNAL's main goal isn't to be a precision platformer. It might scare you, might frustrate you, but I believe in you, okay? You can handle it. Trust me, it's worth it. If anything about the animated trailer speaks to you, please, I'm begging you, listen to that. Try this game. Remember what games can be. And if after you finish it, it leaves you reeling, it's time to watch (the trailer again) :)

It feels odd to say this, but the gameplay was actually the weakest part of the experience to me. The momentum shifts of switching gravity around felt too imprecise for the amount of precision some of the later platforming sequences asked of me. Good thing I was in good company during the FINAL CHALLENGE. The rest, though, was worth powering through the platforming. While the story ends up feeling like it's up to interpretation, the creepy and unnerving scenes, as well as the hilariously meta and unexpected twists have left a strong impression on me. If you're like me, you'll end up feeling like you'd have a hard time recommending this game to anyone, but still feel like you just went through something special.

Good platformer for a decent price. But it’s very short though. A handful of hours, depending on skill level. The platforming difficulty ramps up rather quickly. You're gonna die a lot. So many spikes! Movement is very nice and fluid. Some nice pixel art style, especially the backgrounds. I got surprised quite a bit with the storytelling, but it does indeed become very experimental towards the end. And I'm a big fan of the voice actress!
