★★★★☆ / “Some taboos are cheap. This one at least tries to bleed.” I downloaded Love Ribbon the way most bad decisions begin, casually, late at night, telling myself it was ironic. You know the premise. Two sisters. Forbidden love. The kind of setup that makes one half of the internet clutch pearls while the other half reaches for lotion. It sounds like shock value in a sailor uniform. And sure, there’s some of that. But beneath the headline-grabbing taboo is something stranger: Tenderness. This game doesn’t play the material like a joke. It treats desire the way real life often does — inconvenient, messy, badly timed, and immune to common sense. These aren’t cardboard cutouts built to service a fetish. They feel conflicted, needy, selfish, loving. In other words: human. The art is soft and polished, all pastel innocence wrapped around emotional landmines. The music hums like a secret you know you shouldn’t keep. And the writing, while melodramatic at times, understands the oldest truth in romance: wanting the wrong thing can feel exactly like wanting the right one. That’s where Love Ribbon works. Not because it’s outrageous, but because it understands shame, longing, and the stupid courage it takes to admit what you feel when the world has already decided it’s unacceptable. Is it perfect? No. It stumbles. It leans hard into sentiment. Sometimes it mistakes intensity for depth. But hell, so do most people.

I think it's quite rare to find media that tackles incest with care and nuance. Most media, that isn't say from AO3, always seem to depict incest as only fetish-y or just bad in both senses. Maybe it shows that my yuricest knowledge is lacking, if so I should fix that, but something like Citrus instantly comes to mind. Love Ribbon treats the subject with care however. I won't act as if I truly know the experiences of those that are in these relationships. I don't know the struggle and fear people must have in keeping such a thing secret. But I do believe that LR shows that fear well. Very well. I will avoid major spoilers but seeing as the main couple often struggle with the fact that they are related, even while together, feels incredibly real. How the scrutiny they face and the social pressure they hide from feels real. The mental and emotional toll between them feels real. I genuinely feel that this would probably happen in reality to a budding incestuous relationship. I'm glad they weren't widely accepted, I'm glad they were written to be full blood related siblings, I'm glad they showed it wasn't easy for them, but through it all they made it work and lived happily. I think incest gets a bad reputation often, which really does suck but I understand, and LR shows the good and bad of it. I will concede, I think some drama are a bit contrived and a bit cliché but what's a story without some flaws? I think the game is great and worth full price; The art is stellar, the more intimate parts stir emotions, the story has minor flaws but great, and they handle the taboo well and not present it poorly. Cough, cough, Citrus... And if you're someone who's a fan of yuri, but not of the taboo, who happened to stumble upon this; Do give the game a chance. Minus the incest heavy plot, which honestly makes the story shine, in general it is a good sapphic game. However just have an open mind about the subject, don't immediately reject it because it's an ick for you, doing so you really will deprive yourself of a great dynamic romance.

I'm losing my mind and decided to play this game to feel something. And it made me feel something, alright. How was I able to actually root for blood-related siblings to be together and actually be devastated when I got the bad end? I already knew of the premise when I decided to play this and was curious to see how it would handle such a highly controversial topic. And you know what? It honestly kind of works? There were some moments I asked myself if this story would still be the same whether you took the incest out or not, and I think the incest does play a significant role in the story regardless of whether you get the Good End or the Bad End. I couldn't even blame either of them since they were forced into a situation that was completely out their control. They didn't know about the other's existence, and from a few spoilers that I saw for the Good End, I think even the father knows that his daughters dating, while morally wrong, was more of an unfortunate circumstance from them not growing up together and meeting as teenagers (for people very familiar with yuri as genre, this premise sounds awfully familiar, except the couple in that one aren't blood-related lol). This was a short game, but I think it was the right amount of the time to explore everything such as Iris and Zoey's character development, their growing romance, and the difficulties they'd have to face as sisters in a romantic relationship. I actually felt a bit sad, but also confused that I was feeling sad, when they couldn't be together in the Bad End. It's just a difficult situation to be in, and I appreciate Love Ribbon for approaching it with nuance and care.

Incredibly sweet and a lot more thoughtful than I originally expected, I was glad to see it doesn´t shy away from its premise but instead embraces with enough maturity it's a short read but very worth it!

Great story with big ups and downs. Art also great but it's shame that developing team had no resources for new sprites for at least clothes for "colledge life" part of story.
