Raising simulators despite being a niche genre have always been extremely successful with the people who discover and gravitate towards them. However, in spite of that, very few of these games actually exist and the ones that do in english always had glaring problems; Princess Maker's and Volcano princess's terrible translations, Monster rancher's complexity and barrier to entry, Long live the queen's overt railroading, and most recently Uma Musume while having good localization and gameplay, is held back by being a gacha game. Magical Princess is the first modern and perfect raising simulator, full stop. Amazing localization, beautiful graphics, fully voice acted, passionate developers who celebrate their VAs and even write guides for the players, no gacha mechanics, amazing performance... everything about this game is perfection. There's many endings to aim for, the story and characters are cute, the gameplay is simple but has a bit of complexity sprinkled in, and the runtime doesn't overstay its welcome. a single playthrough wont take you more than a few hours tops, and if speeding through the game you can probably get an ending in about 30 minutes to an hour. selling at a MUCH fairer price than its sparse competition even before sales, this game is a MUST BUY for ANYONE who even remotely enjoys the idea of raising a daughter.
Finished both true endings and am collecting the last 12 or so achievements I'm missing now. (It's VERY easy to grind stats on a replay thanks to the NG+ features.) Good game, solid raising sim, doesn't redefine the genre or anything but it's addicting and fun. The characters are all standard tropes, including your daughter, but the animated sprites go a long way towards making them feel alive and charming. I'd love to see a sequel with a bit more depth, a longer calendar, and more contests. Also, it made me want a daughter.
Hello, welcome to the "dad sim" genre. Wait! I promise you its not weird. The game is a life sim, but you play the role of a father guiding your daughter in life. You can be absentee, loving, or doting. The classes she takes, actions, friends, relationships, jobs, and more all will affect the game's ending. I usually review these games after I complete a playthough or two, as these games tend to many different endings with new game+ buffs that carry over to your next run. This game was so good in my initial run which I have not completed yet that I had to come and say, this game is good. I still find it hard to believe that this game comes from a dev team who makes board games that features the same characters here as a side project.
This is another great game with princess maker genre. The game is fully japanese voice acting with live 2D and many good quality CGs. The presentation of the game is top tier for this game type. The story somehow reminds me of Madoka Magica, but a sweet version. It takes at least 3 runs for the full story, each run will take about 5-7 hours. Achievements in the game are quite lenient. Unlike Volcano Princess, you don't have to get every career endings for 100%. To see all friendship event is probably only easy to miss achievement. Runs perfectly on steam deck.
