Two enthusiastic thumbs up - for the right player. Justice Academy is a game that is not afraid to take its time to get where it is going. The majority of the game is a super chill, laid back development sim where you spend your days training your character and having interactions with your party members to improve the bonds between them. Interspersed with this ( at a ratio of 85% chill to 15% not chill ) are increasingly violent episodes where the plot develops. Combat, like the rest of the game, is a slow build up. Initially you don't have enough skills or energy to make the battles feel very tactical. But as the game progresses and characters grow there are more tactical choices each round. Battle scenarios are often a mix of skilled battle (traditional turn based or auto battled ) and narrative embellishment. For the most part, this works fairly well but sometimes you are forced to a loss for narrative purposes when your team could have handily won the battle. The translation is fairly well done, but could use a bit of work. I never felt at a loss, but small things like text flags were being translated as dialogue. There were also descriptive passages that were untranslated. Oddly, I don't recall any of the action sequences being untranslated. I'm sure there must have been some, but all I recall are very graphic and gripping sequences. Kudos to the writers. I really like this game. It's a steal at the price. If a development sim with a slow building story in a Wuxia style setting is your thing, give Justice Academy a try.

The english translation is on point and really good. The game is very much fun to play so you can blindly buy this game if u loved path of wuxia or wuxia type games. Will update this review once I complete the game. Update:Finished the game. The game is really good if you are into visual novels with in depth dialogues and story. This is really a fun game for its price point and fully worth it. Really good visual novel and NPCs you can be attached tooo Multiple Endings and Dialogues as well. Cant keep an harem sadly. In short-Path of Wuxia in a visual novel but very nicely polished and refined

Look, I'm not going to be blunt, this game isn't for everyone. It's primarily a visual novel/time management simulator, with some RPG elements. If you don't like reading, then you're not going to like this game, it's as simple as that. I do like reading however, so I'm having fun with it. Currently my main gripe however is that there are a lot of errors in the translation, and it definitely needs another clean up pass. There are several scenes where the script for the player name just breaks, a couple of quest items have different names then what's asked for, occasionally lines have left over chinese text, I've seen some consumables raise the wrong stat then what is said, and one of the bonding events was so bugged out that it kept repeating one line for a character over and over again. That being said, the developers do seem to be actively squashing them out so it's probably a matter of time. For now, I'm just going to wait until they're fixed.

This is a pretty standard wuxia visual novel that is overall pretty enjoyable. Story wise, it's a pretty generic wuxia storyline with the protagonist generally being a good person and helping old ladies cross the street and beating up villainous evildoers in jianghu. I will see that the protagonist is not a braindead ♥♥♥♥♥♥ which is always nice to see and all your teammates are competent. The three main heroines are also well-written with good personalities so character wise, even though they are very stock tropes, they are written well enough to not care. The combat system is more interesting that it seems - it's a turn based system where you act based on a speed stat determining how quickly you act again. There are ways to interact outside your turn like follow up attacks and counters and each character has at least two playstyles that change how the combat feels. In addition, there is a form system where you can either move up, down, or stay the same form every time you use attack determining which attacks you can use which I thought was interesting. The enemy variety is not huge, but the combat system is decent at least. Translation wise it's ok - I'm fairly certain it's machine translated and the engine they use naninovel still has some issues with bleedover text from the original translation but they're working on fixing the bugs. Things like chengyu being translated literally as well as several questions relating to Chinese poetry which you would never understand in English need to either be localized or changed. My biggest complaint is that a lot of the actions you take are repetitive like being forced to engage with cooking or fishing minigames because of the stat boosts they provide or the tedium it takes to go to the restaurant every day to get an additional two stamina points. I understand that's probably a limitation of the engine as well as artificially increasing gameplay time, but it is very annoying and deducts a few points from an otherwise great game. Overall, I think this game is probably a 7/10 and I think the devs have achieved what they were trying to do here which was make a enjoyable wuxia game.

Do you like Cultivation Novels? Do you like the general theme of Wuxia or martial arts in general? Do you binge read those novels and Manhua while barely understanding a damn thing past "punch" "pretty girls" "more power!" and, of course, the classic "courting death" theme? You do? Good. Now imagine that but think "Academy High" simulator, with a dash of Yu-Gi-Oh GX (without the card games) and lots of stats to raise, a Persona-style day-to-day choice system and multiple ways events can go wrapped in if your strong enough, if your smart enough, or the end result of your many choices. You start the game by choosing your name, your perks and your stats. Keep in mind that this is very much a game where you'll have no idea what your goals are going in and how systems work - that is....on the first playthrough. If you know exactly what you need going in for your set goals you can basically become the classic "MC Cheat Character" There are even perks you can't get on your playthrough. It is clearly a game built for replayability. So what else is there? *A turn-based combat system built around skills you choose to learn. *A dating aspect based on raising affection and your choices. *A visual-novel-lite style story. The game is built for those people who want the "I want to be the MC in a Manhua" with a dash of "being a student, going to class, beating up jerks, aura farming, etc" So what's the downsides? *Your character is static in looks - as in, you look like black haired pony-tail MC. Not a big deal breaker, but thought I'd mention you won't be changing your appearance. *You cannot be Evil. Now, I could be wrong here, but at most I've just been able to be a slight jerk and that is about it. I don't quite think you can go full "young master" here sadly. Again not a major deal breaker but something to bring up with, you know, a choice based system. That is very much it. Even any English issues I've come across have been fixed or actively being worked on by the Dev. As in they JUST fixed a bunch not two seconds ago. Respect. So can I recommend this game after 2 hours-ish of gametime? Yes. I can. Why did I write my review now and not later? Because I wanted to see if the game is worth your money before the refund time and to put my money where my mouth is. I can safely say this game is a treat and if you like these sort of themes much like me (see my backlog of many, many Chinese games in my library) then you'll like this. For less than what I would pay on fast-food too? Yeah. This is a pretty fantastic buy for me and you'll no doubt see my hours climb on this review very quickly.
