Playing this game alone is SO creepy. I absolutely love the mechanics.. it’s honestly so much fun. I really thought I’d be able to find my way through the maze without a compass or anything, but I spent most of my time completely lost and getting chased and killed by weird creatures. The survival elements are awesome too. You can craft stuff, gather resources, and the randomly generated terrain makes every run feel different. I can already tell I’d have even more fun playing this with a friend, because I was way too scared playing alone lol.
A lot of fun. Feels like a bit of Rust with some survival horror mixed in. Can't say I've played anything like this before. The game is tough at first, but stick with it, and it starts to click. Worth a buy! CONS ===== I would like to see some QoL improvements regarding the item cart. It's easy to lose needed items to the bottom of a big item pile. Would be nice to have some sort of Cart Inventory UI that would allow the player to quickly grab what they're looking for, but not a huge issue. Another thing, my gf and I were unable to find a legitimate way to defeat either of the bosses. Perhaps we're just bad at the game lol! We had to cheese our way through them by exploiting the teleport mechanic, which was a little silly. Because there are no blocking or dodging mechanics, it didn't feel like there's much strategy in defeating the bosses. It feels more so like a "I hope I deal enough damage fast enough before it kills me" sorta deal. Would be really cool to see some type of dash, dodge, block, or even a well-timed parrying mechanic or added to the game for a bit more strategy to the combat. PROS ===== Gameplay overall is fun. Good variety of enemies, and the game doesn't overstay its welcome. In fact, I kinda wish it was longer! Not that I felt like it was too short, but rather it left me wanting more! Maybe they'll expand on it further :D Sound effects were good. Minimal music though. I felt the progression system along with the upgrades were pretty intuitive and moved along well. While it feels like some things could be improved, it's obvious that the devs care about their playerbase, they listen to feedback, and are actively making fixes/updates regularly. It's a good 8-10 hour game. I say it's absolutely worth a purchase! :D
once you get the hang of how each enemy works and not throwing the towel in because you can't deal with dying a few times (the game literally gives you a warning that it won't be easy) it's worth seeing through to the end. played tf out of this with my partner, had a few minor hiccups but the devs were on point with the fixes. it was nice to be able to receive feedback instead of screaming into the void, so thanks for that! <3
I was a bit skeptical about buying this game, but before I went in blind and purchased it, I read some of the negative reviews. Most of them seemed like weak criticisms. I’ve put in a good few hours into the game so far, and it definitely has that “The Forest" vibe, which is what interested me in the first place. The atmosphere is creepy and immersive. In my opinion, playing co-op can take some of the fear out of it, so I think the game is best experienced solo. That said, if you enjoy laughing and getting scared with friends, co-op is still a great option. The game is definitely challenging. I’m not sure how some players are speed running and beating it in under 30 minutes, but I’m not that type of player. Performance has been smooth for me. I saw some early reviews mentioning stuttering, but I’m sure a few updates have addressed those issues. As for people calling it “boring” or a “snooze fest,” I’m not sure what they’re expecting from this type of game. The trailer and store description pretty much tells you exactly what you’re getting into. for $10 you definitely get your money's worth. maybe don't cheat the game to cheese it and ruin your experience. I’ve regretted a few cheap game purchases before, but this isn’t one of them. If I had to rate it on a scale of 1–10, I’d give it a solid 7/10.
