I grew up playing and making Gundam Models so, this is relaxing to play. It has that feel of building those models without the leftover pieces and fun to paint things without making a mess.

If you love building Gunpla kits like Gundam Wing, but you don't have the money or space for them, then here's your new favorite game. There are a LOT of kits contained in the base game, plus 15 per DLC, so there is easily hours of enjoyment to be had. The pieces snap together in a very satisfying way that only the real thing can compare to. My only gripe with this game is that there are no official models/crossovers. However, the original designs feel like they're from a lost series of Gundam Wing, or concept designs from Kamen Rider, so the aesthetic is still there. Seriously, this is the best digital version of assembling kit you will find. Just remap the controls to switch tools with the shoulder buttons, map the action button to either the right trigger or A/X, and you're golden! Before you ask, yes, it's the FULL and accurate version, right down to snipping EVERY SINGLE piece out of the molds 🙂 But seriously, it's a good thing. I wish there was custom ways to paint your figures, but the full color palette and individual piece selection works just fine. Can't wait for more DLC and the upcoming 3D sequel!!

Mech Builder is a masterclass in meditative game design, perfectly capturing the tactile satisfaction of plastic model building without the sticky glue or cluttered desk. As an indie gem, it shines through its commitment to atmosphere and precision, offering a serene escape for anyone who finds joy in the details. The core loop is deceptively simple but deeply rewarding: you snap together intricate, beautifully rendered parts to assemble towering robotic giants. The snapping sound effects are incredibly crisp, providing a sensory "click" that makes every successful connection feel earned. What truly sets it apart is the intuitive interface; it never fights you, allowing your creativity to take center stage. Visually, the game is stunning, featuring a clean aesthetic that highlights the complex machinery you’re constructing. Whether you are a veteran of Gunpla or a newcomer to the hobby, Mech Builder offers a zen-like experience that is both relaxing and immensely fulfilling. It is a rare title that understands the beauty of the process is just as important as the finished product. For fans of cozy simulators and sci-fi design, this is an absolute must-play that belongs in every library.

As a Gunpla builder, this is as close to the real thing (minus the sanding).

I greatly enjoyed this. I make models without breaking the bank by buying IRL kits. If I could ask for new features, I would want; the option to snap the models feet to level with the shelves, an option to select which models appear in front of others, the option to individually remove/store models, the ability to make multiple of the same model for the main menu. As a whole, this is a great game and worth the price.
