Could do with a little polish as far as snapping goes when items are intended for a specific area, I did find that a little frustrating on more than one occasion. I had no performance issues at all, played the entire game on default settings. Chill music, nice art style. I really like that you can freestyle tidy/decorate/re-pack the items once the key objectives for the job are met, allows for more creativity when styling rooms. Little bit short for the price point, I’d grab it when it's on offer. Overall it was fun!
Steam desperately needs that Neutral / Mixed review button, because that is exactly where I would put this one if I could. The moment I saw the art style and realized it was an organizing game where I could ALSO decorate a little? YEPPPP!! Instant wishlist. This is exactly the type of game my little brain normally eats right up! Visually? There is LOTS to love. You can truly feel how much care has gone into the art, and its all very wholesome to look at! But... gameplay wise.. I sadly did not get that same feeling. I checked other reviews after finishing the game, and I was actually surprised by how much criticism I found. I saw people mentioning problems with getting objects out of cabinets, janky interactions and similar issues. Tho i need to say, I did NOT experience those problems at all. I think my biggest issue was simply space. Most of the rooms are very small compared to the amount of stuff you are expected to unpack and organize. Everything does fit, so its not game-breaking or anything like that, but it can feel VERY cramped for sure! I dont know if im alone here, but when I play games like this, I LOVE taking everything out at first. Let me make my giant pile of ✨ random crap ✨ on the floor! Then look at what i am working with, and then figure out where I want all the things! Since the objects come out of the boxes one at a time, you dont know whats next. And if i started organizing my cupboard, I wanna focus on my cupboard. I do not want to suddenly pull out an egg and have to figure out what the heck i am supposed to do with that now. (Can you tell I suck at multitasking? lmao) Anyway! I really do NOT think Neat! is a bad game. But I also dont think its an amazing organizing game if you really want to get that satisfying organizing feeling haha. That being said, I can absolutely see some cozy gamers falling in love with it! I finished it in around 2.5h, and while I enjoyed the lovely art and the concept, I kept waiting for that wonderfully satisfying "aaaahhh, everything has its place exactly how I want it" feeling that I normally get from games like this.....It just... never really came.
Very cute game. Love the art style and it was pretty funny in some pages. It is a little short as of right now, so I hope the devs add more in the future, otherwise you can finish it pretty much in 3 hours or less if you're speedy. I took my time with it. The references were cute. It had me going hehe. The snapping could use some work. I already lost some 'copies' of the same item behind another bc it snapped right into it, and I had to move the items 'in front' of it away to get to it. Or that its so close to the other, it was kind of hard to grab it to move it around. And the edges. It's unsatisfying to see the corner/edges of an item not line up with a shelf line. It's probably the artist in me, but when corners don't line up in a game like this, it kinda breaks the cozyness for me. Idk if this is a little personal thing, but for a game like this, I think it means a lot. I love the artstyle. I love the little pixel items but there IS a lot of repetition in it. You see the same things in pretty much every page and it kinda feels like you just moved rooms rather than moving through a different person's life. It would have been interesting to see something unique and different for each page just to showcase ppl's lives, since Molly is 'helping to organize their lives'. Not everything needs to be different per page, but I think some niche things that only is for that room would have been neat to see. Just to break the monotony. But overall, its a pretty fun game to spend some downtime. Just short (as of this review's date) if you're looking for a longer game.
