The Good / Pros: +only 2-3gb vs Type Lumina's 20gb +Ryougi Shiki and Riesbyfe (if you like her, otherwise at least Riesbyfe are basically Mash Kyrielight since Type Lumina) +The same fun good gameplay that Type Lumina successfully carried over +Orientation allows for commands to be put on the sides of the screen +Background just as good +Event scenes just as good +ANY character storyline involving Neco-Arc is a very good jolly fun The Bad / Cons: -90s or early 2000s era character sprite (then again the first iterations of MELTY BLOOD was like around 2002-2004) -Terrible netcode to the point that a "community edition" was made independent of the Steam itself and based on the original Japanese copy (not a problem if you didn't play online or use remote play) -Story as incomprehensible as ever even if you kinda familiar with the source material. Basically don't question what's not consistent, you just need the lore for the character's backstory, and if everything is incomprehensible, just say "TATARI does it" (in TYPE-LUMINA, they just said "Neco-Arc did it" given that TYPE-LUMINA retread part of the remake story if playing the canon characters)
Unfortunately, this version of the game is obsolete. The community edition is not only free, but has a functioning network and rollback along with a proper playerbase. That being said however, this game is awesome, and easily my favourite fighting game ever. It's very easy to learn yet hard to master, the variety in characters and playstyles is tremendous and the fighting just feels so smooth and fluid. The sprites, artwork and backgrounds are beautifully drawn and the soundtrack is an infinite well of bangers. I truly cannot stress how much I love this game, and I definitely recommend the community edition. And while you're there, give Tsukihime a read, the visual novel that it's based on. It's a bittersweet, outright shocking, yet beautiful story with amazing characters and atmosphere.
