Would I recommend this game? Only in a sale. Would I play it again? Only if they fixed the achievements Cons: Graphic bugs, game play bugs, achievement bugs, and a story that was hard to follow. Pros: FPS, cool soundtrack, chill.

I had this game as number 1 on my wishlist since the first time I saw it on Reddit a few years ago. So I bought it on release but didn't get around to playing it until now. I'm not going to lie. It needs more work. And the developer seemingly abandoned it. I know the feeling very well of having a project that is like my baby crash and burn. So I cannot blame him for doing so. With all that said, there is a lot to like here and a lot of variety to the gameplay; a lot more than can be said for most AAA games. I enjoyed my time with it, and I do not regret my purchase one bit.

TL; DR: this is a project with a lot of love behind it, but the numerous bugs and rushed story beats had me uninstall well before finishing the game to await optimization and content updates before returning to it for completion. Pros: -gunplay is overall good -setting is well-realized and immersive -art direction is great -music is good and adds to the atmosphere -has that indie "special sauce" where you can tell the dev team was putting their passion into this Cons: -*Michael Scott voice* "Shut up, Toby!" Sorry bud, but I don't need to be constantly told in myriad ways how good of a shot I just made was, that I need to be careful or am in danger or that they're coming, or getting impatient and telling me how to solve a puzzle just because I wanted to explore the area at my own pace; I get (I think) that the point of Toby's existence is to provide some humor and companionship, but honestly I think that completely undermines any potential for exploring the soul-crushing loneliness and isolation someone would have to face if actually in the protagonist's situation; recommendation: have an option to reduce or outright turn off Toby's interactions. -bugs: my settings would NOT stay applied (i.e. mouse control settings would revert each time I came back to the game or even at complete random, or the menu would ask if I wanted to save settings when leaving even though I hadn't changed anything); after the first ship-flying session mouse hardware input somehow changed and I had to dial the actual sensitivity setting down to get the same sensitivity feel that I'd had previously; objectives get stuck (had to reload a save game or outright restart the game multiple times); the player character gets stuck on/runs into innocuous level geometry far too often, even when geometry was supposed to have moved or been turned off; puzzle design is inconsistent and often shifts between fun and "Seriously, THAT'S the solution?"; life bar suddenly jumped across the screen on multiple occasions; and many more; recommendation: keep working bug fixes as that's the main issue with the game. -story as presented feels very rushed, i.e. the protagonist makes leaps in logic or acts in ways that seem pretty out of line with those a professional who has trained for extraterrestrial missions in the most hostile and austere of environments would, leading me to conclude that either parts of what was intended to be told had to be omitted for gameplay purposes or development time constraints, or the story, world, and characters weren't fully thought out to begin with; recommendation: give more time for story beats to be digested by the player and protagonist rather than simply having them rush off to the next plot point, and research a bit more on the qualities and training astronauts have in order to provide a more realistic expectation of human behavior and problem-solving for the situations the protagonist finds himself in as, while there are fantastical elements at play here, the best of these types of stories keep their characters grounded, and what this dude would do or say all too often broke me out of the otherwise great immersion I kept trying to enjoy. Overall, this is a game that I would recommend at full price if you're open to having to contend with bugs the whole time and are good with an almost-too-straightforward story that makes leaps in its logic to get to the next plot point; or on a sale if you're not too keen on the above but are still hard up for an otherwise enjoyable sci-fi romp. I like this for what it is, but if those issues get ironed out I'll love it for what it will have become: an essential indie experience that yet again shows what a small talented group can do with good direction and support.

Honestly, I think it's a game with a lot of good points: - The graphics look like a AAA game. It reminds me a lot of games like Prey (2017) or Doom (2016). - The music and ambient sound are very good and immersive. It reminds me a lot of Borderlands 2 or Portal 2. - The character mobility is very satisfying, which is the hardest thing to find in indie games. - The weapons look like something out of Call of Duty or Battlefield, and they can be modified. - The character has a skill development tree. - The interface is simple but very effective, similar to Cyberpunk 2077. - During the adventure, you are accompanied by a voiceover from a robot. It reminded me a lot of Portal 2 or the radios in Borderlands. - You control various types of vehicles: ships, cars, submarines, torpedoes, etc. - There are some puzzles like The Talos Principle. In short, when you look at indie games, it's because you want something different, an experience, or a new idea for gameplay mechanics, etc. And if you're looking for a science fiction game based in space, what you like most is the "art": The landscapes, the different planets, different climates, different gravities, etc., and you'll find that in this game. But keep in mind that it's also an indie game: - It's 4 or 5 hours long - The game stutters a bit, I think it's when moving from one part of the stage to another; it's as if it had to load in 1 or 2 seconds - The game crashed twice - I miss a map - It's very straightforward, from point A to B, with few areas to explore, search for items, or complete side quests, etc. Personally, I think they could have made a 10- to 12-hour game, simply doing exploration and backtracking missions, adding more supporting characters, and developing more stories. The technical work was already done. - And for my taste, it has too many new mechanics in each level, which then go unused. It's as if they wanted to incorporate many different mechanics from many games, as a technical concept, instead of making a bigger game and having the mechanics be specific to the game. In short, it's a great indie game, with many good and beautiful features. If you're looking for a space science fiction experience, this game has all the ingredients. I don't understand how they managed to make it with eight people. I don't understand how some people can't recommend it. It's one thing if it's not the theme you like, but the game as a whole is a very nice experience. Is the game worth the price? Absolutely. After finishing the game, I have to say that the last two levels are the best in terms of action, and the ending is very, very good, inspired by one of my favorite science fiction movies. Congratulations to the team!!!

It's clear that a lot of hard work and love went into this game. It's more than playable but it does have its bugs. Nothing that stopped me from playing outright though. My only real criticism is that the dialogue is a bit forced and unnatural. It doesn't sound conversational, it sounds exactly like what it is; prerecorded sentences that are stacked up in a queue and played in sequence, sometimes incorrectly. I agree with some other reviews that the gun upgrades seem a little superfluous. The sniper rifle in particular wasn't worth the time. It always feels inaccurate and under-powered. I would recommend this to anyone that's interested in a lightweight FPS. Don't compare it to a AAA game, it's not supposed to compete at that level. Enjoy it for what it is.
