One of the best beat em' ups i've ever played. Really good game, every aspect of it is impeccable - music, art, bosses, mechanics, gameplay. Every punch and effect is perceptible and feels just right. Great enemy variety and challenging situations keep you on edge. Hardcore mode is a mess on it's own. Setting is also very unique, it's unbelievably great game. Highly recommended and a must play if you love beat em' ups.
I played this in 3 player co-op. Fun beat em up with great art and cool moves. Level design is cool with some fun set pieces. 3-4 hour romp that's fairly easy except for a few challenging fights. We knocked it out in two sessions. Didn't lean as heavily into the Russian theme as I expected, nor comment on political ideology much at all. I'm ok with it, but it's different than what I expected from Mother Russia Bleeds.
While for the most part I WOULD recommend this game to other people; it is relatively easy to get into, it's a fun beat em up, even if very vulgar and violent. It also saves very frequently so if you do die a lot that is useful. However it does have a few things that feel...off about it. But i can't entirely put my finger on what. Perhaps it just how some moments feel VERY unforgiving even by the standards of classic beat em up. But still this might just be me...i would recommend giving it a try.
🗑️ It's hard to call this game bad, it does what it's supposed to. The hitboxes may be imperfect, the mechanics may seem a bit unusual for the genre, but the arcade difficulty and attempt to diversify the bosses fit well with the gameplay. Everything is drawn quite good, especially the environments. However, the setting, theme and dialogues, from a more adult perspective, are completely disgusting, vile, or just plain gross. This is an absolute "trash" (as a genre), assembled from the filthiest stereotypes. It's not cool, rather dumb, edgy and done for shock value. Does the anti-drug message work? Well, yes. Does the rest of the "historical propaganda" work, or is there any at all? Most likely (or definitely) not. Overall, this wild stuff isn't for everyone, and it does lack online co-op, but the game was released quite a while ago.
Great high energy soundtrack, which is the reason I wound up on this page ~ I wanted the sound track but it looks like I needed to have bought the dealers edition for that. :steamsad:/ As far as the story, its out there and still both entertaining and interesting. Definitely with adult themes, not a tactical beat em up for babies :lernie: As far as the gameplay, the controls are pretty tight: demonstrated best in sequences when you are actually able catch a throw weapon. The line up of available moves is limited, but mostly and-yet-incredibly well crafted to keep fighting interesting. Bosses get their own unique and fun mechanic (The final boss is NOT fun *♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥*). Just playing through this game once is worth the price of admission, even on easy with friends (co-op is great too, up to 4 players local & remote play together). But the skill ceiling goes high too, well over my head. Then there is the arena levels that unlock different power ups, the skill you trigger for filling a special meter (drugs). You show off your face smashing a large number of enemies. If you find this game under $5, grab it, you should know in much less than 20 min (let alone the steam 2 hour limit) if this game is for you. P.S. Runs perfectly on the steam deck.
