Sept. 2025
When I bought this game, I really didn't care for it. The game's graphics are plain and boring, the world doesn't have all that much in it, and the only part of this game that seemingly had *any* meat on its bones were the cars themselves. I ended up thinking "This is great and all, but why even fix cars if the world you're driving them in is this big and empty. Why make money if there's nothing to spend it on other than cars and a garage extension? What's the point?" Given that I'd just come off Mon Bazou and really enjoyed that game's feeling of progression, I was not really in a state of mind to enjoy this game, so I refunded it. "But, wait..." you say. Why am I recommending the game then? Why doesn't the review say I refunded the product? Well, long story short, after a week of looking for another game to fill the hole that beating Mon Bazou has left in my heart, I came crawling back with the same twenty dollars I put into this game the first time and decided to give the game another shot. And, WOW, I'm glad I did. So, what did I miss the first time? To start, My Garage is really quite impressive on the mechanical side. Even moreso when you consider that this game was made by a solo dev. You know how in My Summer Car and Mon Bazou, if you rip all the parts of the car off the main body and throw them on the ground, you're still left with the frame and body of the car and you can't do anything to it other than paint it? That is *not* the case here. In this game, you can take an angle grinder and literally tear the car to pieces. I'm talking down to *nothing* but a pile of panels, frame rails, and bracing. Then, when you've done that, you can take your TIG welder and put it all back together. You can even use the angle grinder to clean up rust holes and patch those holes with the TIG welder. Honestly just super cool. Also, you know how in lots of games when you "paint" a car you're really just choosing what color the car should be and applying that color over the whole car? Not here! Spray cans actually let you spray a semi-realistic cone of paint onto the car. There's even a painting pen that you can use to make some more interesting designs, so you can actually get pretty creative and do stuff like racing stripes or flames. Whatever you like. What really sold me on this game though is its core "loop." The feeling of working on jobs to make a little money, buying a hunk-of-junk car at the junkyard, towing it back home and completely restoring it. Then, after the car's restored, you sell it and buy something new. I thought I'd get bored of all that, but with EIGHT fully-featured engines and (i'm not kidding) FIFTEEN different vehicles to work with, there's a lot to learn and do. Yeah, yeah, but how's the handling? Pretty great actually. Is there multiplayer? Yup. It's jank, but works. Can I tune the cars? No, but you can get a mod that lets you. There's mods? Yup. There's a ton over on Nexus. New cars, engines, parts... you name it. That's all well and good, but the world's still empty... right? Honestly, beyond the jank, that's my one and only major complaint is that there's nowhere to really "go" and there's not really any reason to go there. But, honestly, if you like working with cars in any capacity or have even a remote interest in them, consider giving this game a shot regardless. If you don't like it you can always refund it before the two hour mark like I did.

My Garage is a fantastic game! It's one of my favorites! I my opinion, My Garage is the best car mechanic game on the market. It's more than a car mechanic game. More open world. If you don't want to wrench on vehicles, go enter into one of the many races or do some pizza deliveries or maybe build a new shop! My Garage is a great game but it has it's issues or bugs like any game. That can be over looked because, the game is that good! Give My Garage a try!
