7/10: Great art style/direction, but mid gameplay. Played through solo as well as with friends. We had fun. Everything functioned well, no major glitches. Intro, animations etc were great… they def knocked it out of the park where “80s saturday morning cartoon” aesthetics are concerned. Only thing keeping me from giving a higher rating is that the game is 9 levels, each a runthrough of several rooms with a couple of different tasks repeated. Tasks repeat, rooms repeat, enemies repeat… it CAN (did) tire fast, though the game otherwise is high quality. Any DLC *with a shakeup in gameplay* would def bring me back.

Mythforce --------------------------- MythForce feels like stepping into an 80s cartoon, think He-Man or Thundercats. Everything bursts with color, the heroes are bigger than life, and the villains are hilariously over the top. Every fight feels like a Saturday morning showdown, full of action and fun. The gameplay is simple and light, a roguelite that lets you focus on smashing, casting, and laughing. Each character has some powers, like your old action figures came to life for an adventure. Combat is easy to follow and basic. But it does it's job. The music, visuals, and whole presentation hit that nostalgic sweet spot perfectly. It’s charming, silly, and doesn’t try to be anything more than fun, which is perfect for adults. Playing it made me grin and remember the joy of being a kid again. If you grew up on 80s cartoons, this one is a blast. enjoy the game.

On sale buy it. When this game first came out, it was a solid no. First it was an epic exclusive, boooo to all exclusives on PC. Second it was $40, its not a $40 game, not by a long shot. Now its dead, no more updates. Here's where it gets good, they cut the price to $20, where it should have been all along. I'm writing this review at 3 hours and I finished it. It's a 3 hour game I bought it on sale for $7, and it was worth it. The game does repeat itself, they use the same few map assets and plugged them in differently to make it seem bigger than it is. Also kodus for the demo, I think all devs should find a way to provide a demo. Honestly if they released it on steam at launch at $20 and kept adding cosmetics for money and playable content this game would have done much better.

It's your basic 4 player PVE game. It's not especially challenging or innovative in gameplay, but it is fun. Where it shines is the atmosphere! The synth-inspired music is great. The heroes and villains are great. The voicelines are gloriously cheesey. The artwork is beautiful and evocative 80's animation. This game plays like how you remember old 80s cartoons, even though they weren't nearly that good. This game is 10/10 for pseudo-nostalgia. I wish they still made cartoons like this aimed at old farts like me.

The game just came out with an update that changed a ton of things. Added a ton more rogue-like elements, 3 skill trees class. Can equip 4 starting items, power that carries over through games. Combat is much more face paced, much more fluid, feels a lot better. Recommend trying this out now.
