Neon Struct, developed and published by Minor Key Games, is a compact first-person stealth experience that deliberately echoes the immersive sims of the late ’90s and early 2000s. Instead of chasing cinematic spectacle or high-budget worldbuilding, it focuses on clean mechanics, player agency, and a subdued atmosphere of paranoia. You play as Jillian Cleary, an intelligence operative who finds herself framed, disavowed, and hunted by the very organization she once served. The game wastes no time establishing its central tension: Jillian must maneuver through a world thick with surveillance and political machinations, relying entirely on stealth and resourcefulness rather than brute force. This premise becomes the backbone for a journey built on infiltration, evasion, and careful planning. The game’s approach to stealth is refreshingly pure. Neon Struct rejects firefights entirely—there are no guns, no lethal takedowns, no fallback option if you’re spotted. Your power lies in staying unseen, controlling line of sight, listening for patrol routes, and manipulating the environment to create safe opportunities. A simple “visibility indicator” communicates how well hidden you are, echoing mechanics from early Thief titles. Level layouts encourage experimentation: nearly every mission offers ventilation shafts, alternate entrances, high routes, low routes, hackable consoles, and lighting systems you can shut down to carve out temporary pockets of safety. The tools at your disposal—scramblers, cloaking devices, noise dampeners, and temporary ability boosters—act as creative modifiers that let you shape your approach to each scenario. This focus on improvisational stealth gives the gameplay real texture, rewarding patience while still leaving room for clever improvisation when things go wrong. Visually, Neon Struct embraces minimalism. Environments are built from blocky shapes, clean lines, and soft neon glows that give the world a stark, almost abstract quality. This isn’t meant to impress through graphical fidelity; rather, the stripped-down aesthetic supports clarity and mood. Enemies stand out clearly in their environments, light and shadow readability is excellent, and the color palette leans into a cool, surveillance-state melancholy that fits the narrative’s themes. The low-poly art direction gives the game an identity that feels both nostalgic and modern—evoking older stealth titles while still offering a sense of sleek futurism. Combined with a subdued electronic soundtrack, the visual direction helps maintain a steady sense of tension without overwhelming the senses. The narrative is lean but effective. Jillian’s story unfolds through mission briefings, intercepted communications, environmental details, and the occasional conversation with allies. It is not a story told through elaborate cutscenes; instead, it unfolds through implication, leaving players to connect threads on their own. Themes of government overreach, loss of privacy, and institutional betrayal permeate the world. Minor Key Games keeps the plot grounded and personal, showing Jillian as someone forced to continue operating with professionalism even as everything stabilizing in her life collapses around her. The writing is understated, deliberately avoiding melodrama, but the overall mood—paranoid, lonely, reflective—comes through clearly. Neon Struct’s strengths also highlight its limitations. It is a short game, often completed in just a few hours, and while its levels are designed for multiple infiltration paths, the replayability comes more from the joy of optimizing routes than from meaningful structural differences. The minimalist graphics, while atmospheric, may feel too sparse for players accustomed to highly detailed environments. The AI, though functional, sometimes behaves predictably or inconsistently—issues that stand out more in a game where stealth precision is everything. And with no post-campaign modes or extensive progression systems, players wanting a deep, long-form immersive sim may feel the experience ends just as it begins to engage fully. Even so, Neon Struct succeeds because it knows exactly what it wants to be. It doesn’t chase trends or try to compete with large-budget stealth games. Instead, it offers an intentionally focused homage to classic infiltration gameplay—quiet tension, clever navigation, and the satisfying rhythm of slipping through a hostile environment without being seen. For players who miss the purity of older stealth titles, or who enjoy tightly constructed indie experiments with strong mechanical identities, Neon Struct delivers something rare: a stealth game that feels genuinely stealth-first, built with clarity and confidence. As a whole, Neon Struct stands out as an atmospheric, tightly crafted stealth experience wrapped in a minimalist cyber-surveillance narrative. It’s short, modest, and unpretentious, but also thoughtful, deliberate, and quietly absorbing. For players who value methodical infiltration over action-heavy hybrids, it remains an underrated gem in the indie stealth landscape. Rating: 7/10

A dark world, with mystery. Gameplay is exploration and (easy) puzzles. Very simple programming: a 3D world, but with graphics from the early 2000s. Cons: Not very much there for the money, but I felt it was worth the price. Pros: Didn't crash. Easy controls.

This indie hidden gem is actually scratching my itch for a Stealth/Immersive Sim that Dishonored and Deus Ex left me with. 100% recommend playing this if you like Dishonored and/or Deus Ex and are looking for something to try out. Not a perfect game by any means, and definitely has some weak points, but enjoyable game thus far.

quite fun and dare I say immersive, given the fact that it... lacks textures. It's a blend of Thief mechanics and Deus ex vibes

Wonderful game. The story is intriguing and does make you stop and think about your decisions. It has amazing inner-self perspectives about anxiety, guilt and so on.. The plot THICKENS! It does start of slow and somewhat boring but it only gets better by the mission. The gameplay is pretty minimalistic and THAT is basically the peak aspect of the game, because it is so unique. You can b-hop and do all sorts of movements to spice the fun up. The music and the atmosphere is great, I was screenshotting pretty much every location. It is just challenging enough on its own to make it a rememberable experience. All that said I absolutely recommend the game to everyone and make sure to give it a chance past the intro, I promise it's worth it. P.S. I finished it in one sitting, for 3 and a half hours I did not get up from my chair and I forgot about my surroundings. What game has made You experience that lately?
