General Experience I'm a little mixed on Nightmare Knight, but after clearing it I did decide that it was better than my initial impressions. I did very much like the updated UI, as a lot of these RPG Maker games are very clunky. On top of it, the artwork is fantastic and well made. It is easily the game's strongest selling point. I do wish the corruption was done better, and that it actually reflected properly in the story. It's my own nitpick, but it definitely feels rushed. That being said, if you enjoyed other titles within this particular genre, you'll probably like this one, too. I just think it could have done things a little more organically. Adult Content You do need a patch to see the content. While the pacing isn't great, the quality of the artwork is definitely some of the best. There are two forms in the game; high quality scenes that come mostly from the city, and then your character's side profile. More scenes open up as the game goes on, with a lot of them having 3 versions with new artwork and details in each. Falling in battle has only a few scenes, so you don't have to constantly lose to see content. The side profile shows your outfits in the city or enemies that have restrained Rayne, as well as interactions that don't have a dedicated scene. These also tend to include an animated window showing extra details. There's a lot of scenes and you can view them in the memory zone. When you beat the game, you have the option in the zone to unlock everything (including endings). Complaints I mentioned the pacing is pretty poor, and that stems from the "corruption" of the character being pretty rushed (or nonexistent). You're told that the "!" spots will generate a scene, but Rayne generally just goes with the flow very early on and isn't that hesitant to start "saving the people." The loop of being hesitant > curious > open minded > corrupted was not consistent and doesn't translate well in-game. A lot of this is due to being able to "pick" when you explore Rayne's desires, rather than gradually being exposed/corrupted. It's definitely a personal taste, but the slow-burn really adds to the quality of the genre. If you want spank bank material this game won't make you wait long. Overall, the plot and the "side content" feel completely unrelated to each other. Replayability There is a New Game+ mode, as well as 4 endings. If you wanted to, you could replay until you got them all, but you can view all the endings by unlocking them post-game. I would say you will get the most value out of the game by playing normally and then doing a pure run. Achievements No achievements at the time of this review. Technical Issues The RPG Maker jank is less problematic in this title, although it's still apparent (like click to move has horrid pathing in this). On the technical level, I didn't experience anything game breaking. Value By default the asking price is $18, and goes under $15 when on sale. While I recommend the game, I do think you should get it on sale. My reasoning is that it's a decent game with high production value, but there are many "female protagonist with corruption" style games that set the bar much higher. Snag on sale it if you like the genre.
For this price, u'd expect a good translation. 15mins in and i spotted more than 5 grammatical errors. Sure its not so bad as to ruin the game but comparing to other H-games, this one is quite on the expensive side so there shouldnt be any mistakes. How did the proof readers even let these pass, or did they not have a proofread? But everything else is great, the art the game play. But READING is the biggest part of the game, improve pls
Game is alright. Would recommend getting on discount but not for full price. Level progression is well designed, no sudden difficulty spike and requires minimal amount of grind. One complaint I have is the gamba mechanics in the casino, the gamba mini-game is too much of a chore to do and the erotic event gives nothing special as reward aside from the cutscene itself despite being gated behind 3000 chip (3 million gem) which is a bit underwhelming. Fall down mode has very little difference to sanity mode aside from unlocking nudity which also lacks interaction with the gameplay environment. The game design reminds me of Ambrosia and Celesphonia which are both top erotic games for me (also good RPGs without the lewd aspect), but lacks in both replayable content and interactions. The game is good enough within this genre though.
damn... this was great i had a pretty good time... gameplay is pretty nice it have good rpg concepts but a bit grindy at some parts... the story branches to two options depending on what you choose but definitely both are very linear... Rayne is phenomenal both in design and character.. shes definitely out of it since the beginning... and overall this was a Great Eroge... wish there were more Phils scenes --- Phils-san was TOP TIER ngl... i understand.... the innocence... it must be corrected.....
Pros: -Multi choice / path game -Some creative game play ideas -Descent plot, story, and characters Cons: -Very grindy -Inconsistent game mechanics, game play This, with the patch, is an adult fantasy rpg where a young female knight takes on a corruption threat that is endangering a region and probably eventually the world. For me, I felt that some of the game mechanics and the decision points were well done; while relatively simple these would influence the path and progress of the game and protaganist up to a point. In particular, the creators of this game worked wonders with the simple sliding bar and decision points . .. I only wish that had been consistently used through out, for you can help guide your prot by this little mini game for many points in the game, but then other scenes just randomly play out and you get little say. My other main gripe is just how grindy the game is ... a lot of games let the prot auto defeat enemies that are a few levels lower -- why not include that in this devs next game? It would solve a ton of warriness and lost time. While character art , the plot, and story all were enjoyable, and wrapped with the adult patch, a fun little trek through guilty pleasures, I kind of wish there had been more conntent, which might be why the devs left it grindy, to make the game longer . . . if I could snap my fingers and change this sort of game, I'd make the game world larger and a little less rail roady (while the choice points were there, you really couldn't avoid the main quest -- the best games let you ignore the main quest as long as you like). Overall, with the patch, I'd give this game a recommend for those that want an adult rpg expeirence, with the caviots that you are going to waste far to much time grinding and for myself at least some of the boss battles were frustrating -- also, really wish the dev would drop more save points in between huge cut scenes . .. .grumble mumble ... but overall its a good game. The prot is a cute, energetic knight and her initial personality works well with the moral parameters and philosophy of the larger game world. With a larger game world, a few tweeks here and there, maybe more dress up options ... I could see a sequel game or something similiar being absolutely amazing. As is, I will give this game 3 out of 5 demon knights.
