This game is an absolute joy. Coming from a guy that works as an operator at a real powerplant, this game checks every mark. If you dont have any experience with running or controlling powerplants, either in game or IRL. There is a bit of a learning curve. But let me tell you, its so worth it. Rating U235/Th231!

It practically teaches u everything about a real nuclear power plant (like the control room part of a powerplant) its not completely graphically accurate to a real nuclear reactor but its close enough to make it immersive feeling.

Exactly what it says on the tin - run a nuclear reactor, deal with electrical demand, plan out maintenance, and upgrade your power plant to meet even bigger demands. Play however you want, be it run the safest and most efficient NPP you can or just see how fast your can get it to melt down or explode (surprisingly takes some skill to do either!). The simulation of the power plant is quite intricate. Pipes are actually simulated so there's always a bit of lag time to factor in when changing pump speeds or opening/closing valves to seeing results. The chemical module, which I would strongly encourage even new players to use, adds more realistic features to the simulation that require the operator to manage. The downside is that there's not much in the way of in-game tutorials or resources to help you understand fully how the plant works or how to manage it. A lot of knowledge has been developed by the community. The official Discord is great and very helpful and there are some excellent YouTube guides out there too, But be warned that the game is updated fairly regularly so older guides and resources might not work exactly with the current build of the game. In the end, I think it's a great game for people with an interest in nuclear power to see if they have what it takes to operate a power plant. But, if you don't come in with at least some basic knowledge of how a nuclear power plant works you might end up feeling more frustrated than anything.

Start playing game Get plant running Everything is fine Every single possible light and alarm starts flashing Everything is not too fine Doors drop down Loud BOOM Everything is very very VERY Bad Now there is no more powerplant Restart, Repeat cycle Leave game with a headache as i cannot wrap my brain around nuclear energy and the science behind it 10/10 would play again... also...why do i taste metal?...

If you want to try this game out, just remember one crucial thing also written in the description: NO HAND-HOLDING The tutorial only explains what to do to start up the reactor, after that you got the power of the atom in your hands, and you'll probably have no idea on what to do with it. Which is fine, experiment and learn how it works: poison the reactor with xenon (sorry Dyatlov), melt it, choke it with boron... Or produce actual energy for the city. Highly recommended for masochists and Church of Atom disciples👍🏻
