Hello, developer. I hope you see this, I'm waaaay too drunk to find the proper channels, but can you add a monitor selection option to the game? Everytime I open it, it's on my smallest monitor and I have to manually move it to my main screen. 10/10 game, though. Absolutely love it!

A ‘solo dev gem’ Bazaar-like with memorable pixel art, an impressively thorough autobattle system, fun NPC encounters, and a challenging Ranked mode. I’ve had so much fun that I bought the Supporter Pack (solely cosmetic stuff) and I’m excited to see how the game develops. That being said, there are a few issues and shortcomings that will need to be addressed: 1. EDIT: Bocary (dev) has already addressed this issue with some reasonable nerfs!!! At high-level Ranked play (Diamond and above), the meta is stale and incredibly imbalanced: everybody is spamming Regular Bow earlygame into Dragon’s Call. In fact, the Dragon’s Call + Launcher endgame is so powerful that, at the time of writing, every single build should pivot to it if possible. The poor balance is making me stop playing for now. 2. EDIT: Bocary also addressed this, already! Perks take too long to unlock. I don’t want to troll several runs in Casual mode just to unlock some of the more obscure perks. Players should have easier access to Perks to allow for more creativity. 3. Perks need to be more run-defining. Seriously, buff all Perks heavily and the game’s build diversity will benefit greatly. Currently, the “one OP meta build” can be forced every game because Perks are currently irrelevant lategame. Stronger, more interesting perks would incentivize a more diverse endgame meta in a game without distinct player classes/characters. 4. 3x speed or higher please! The first 2-3 battles often go to fatigue with a clear winner and are a pain to sit through. Overall, Oaken Tower is a must-play for autobattler enjoyers, and I wouldn’t have bothered typing up all those criticisms if I didn’t believe this game could shape up to be the best in the genre!

As always with autobattlers, balancing is one of the key issues. In my opinion, there are two axes; the reliable/unreliable axis and the low/high scaling axis. An item should either be low scaling but reliable or high scaling but unreliable. The definition of reliability is you can consistently get it to work >50% of the time and scalability could be linear, quartic, or exponential. There are several 'broken' builds currently in the meta right now; both reliable and high scaling, one of them being the 3-star wooden bow which scales exponentially (if it's the only item in the inventory). This is a problem because such a dominant item overpowers other builds and lessens build variety. Other than the balance issue, I had fun playing the game and would recommend it to other people.

Lot of RNG talk from people who definitely don't play autobattlers or backpack games in the reviews, the game has as much RNG as any of the others. This is a great little middle ground between overly complex auto battlers, and overly simplified ones. This has a lot of niche builds due to splash items and consumables being able to be applied to your units/items, heavily worth the money if you like the genre.

this game emulates the feeling of being embroiled in the manhattan project and racing to make an a bomb first, but instead of refining uranium you are adding multicast to to a bow that triggers all of your other bows and melts your opponent's health bar instantly. you either make something beautifully broken or join the broken. a must have for anybody who wants the numbers to go up
