apparently people say it's like some backpack game, but I never played that, so I'll tell you what I like about this one it's like the bazaar but with actual animations in the battles and with some serious board state customization but WITHOUT the good music in my opinion, music is the most important part of a video game, so since this game has subpar music I must rate it at a solid 8.6/10 ez purchase recommendation hands down
A solid autobattler with a lot going for it. There are a huge amount of items to buy and explore, and loads of different interactions for the number crunchers. The inventory-style item management gives you a lot of freedom to make fun combos. The game looks alright, but lacks some polish, particularly in the audio. I ended up muting it pretty early.
It's a good inventory game, good QoL and controls, nice selection of classes, cute art but visuals can get a bit much. For the price it's a great deal. One issue unrelated to the game is this genre for me is played out now so i would say don't expect this to grab you as much as your first inventory game.
Over 100hrs Edit: TSK is the most addictive backpack battler I've played to date. If you've ever played Tetris for so long that you start seeing the moving pieces when you close your eyes that's the same sensation I feel with this game too. It's rare that a game will capture me to this degree but I often find myself daydreaming at work imaging a new build or getting the perfect items. If you're new to backpack battlers this would be the best first one to try in my opinion, and if you're experienced with the genre I'm confident you will fall in love with it too. IT'S UNDER $15 AND YOU GET EVERY CHARACTER AND ITEM INCLUDED IN THE BASE PRICE! Original Review: A charming, cartoony backpack-battler with tons of items and synergies. Four characters each with sub-classes, alternate skins, and various progression mechanics. If you're a fan of the Cuphead-style cartoony art or the cutesy characters and theme you will appreciate the aesthetic in Toy Smash Kaboom. A complete and original game for less than $15 deserves a chance in my opinion, especially if you like the genre.
There's very significant balance issues that lead to a specific few starts being objectively better than the rest for winrate, and the developers seem to favor an incremental patch approach that addresses imbalances slower than they are added in, but the core mechanics are good enough that I keep playing anyway. Besides, the ranking system is the opposite of Backpack Battles in that its largely a time played * skill level race, and not attempting to emulate things like mmr (barring a few power-increasing unlocks causing a new matchmaking pool) or strict opponents with the same W/L as you. It helps that there isn't another auto battler on the market yet that meets my preferences. Most of the competition is dead, has timers too strict for me, or has P2W or otherwise repulsive monetization, etc.
