On-Together: Virtual Co-Working isn't perfect, but it won me over in a single workday. (I literally told my husband, "It's mediocre but I love it.") It's cute, colorful, and ideal for those work from homies who don't get water cooler breaks. Gameplay + Details Join or create a server, which (without mods) all take place on the same island map. Go into "focus mode," fish, play basketball, etc. to gain both XP and "tickets" that can be spent to purchase cosmetic and game items. As you level up, you can unlock new pets that chill out on top of your head. In the meantime, there's a global/local chat, pomodoro timer, to-do list, community task list, and journal. Modes. Fullscreen (can be covered), or park at the side, bottom, or corner of desktop. Options/Settings. An adjustable profanity filter! You cannot, as far as I can tell, block a specific song, but you can block and mute toxic players. What Works For Me ✅ Cute (if not extensive) character customization. ✅ With pets that sit on your head! ✅ Plenty of cute areas to explore. ✅ And plenty of cute activities to engage in! ✅ To-Do List has multiple sections/pages. ✅ The people using this game are my kinda people. ✅ Every chat I've seen has been friendly and fun. ✅ Basketball is weirdly entertaining. ✅ Large catalogue of fish. What Doesn't Work For Me 🟥 Excessive server connection errors and drops. 🟥 Docks to desktop, but covers other windows. 🟥 That ♥♥♥♥-ing bounce song. Afghxghsh. 🟥 Weather sound sliders, but no weather effects. 🟥 No day/night cycle or season options. 🟥 No custom worlds or decorating. 🟥 Leveling up is a bit of a slog. Final Thoughts I haven't seen everything this has to offer yet, and I'm not done with or over it. For me, this is an early review. But… I largely work from home. For the most part, it's nice; there are fewer distractions, fewer interruptions, and no need to shiv anyone over the thermostat or microwaving cauliflower rice in the breakroom. I get more done. Sometimes, though, it's a smidge too quiet. Lonely. Unproductive. So, I've spent several hundred hours in idlers and gamified productivity tools since 2020, fell in love with [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/2113850/Spirit_City_Lofi_Sessions/?curator_clanid=45365863]Spirit City in particular, but even still, there's always that alone-ness. On-Together scoffs at alone-ness. You have your pick of servers with unique names, all tagged with things like "chatty" or "18+" or none of the above, and can sometimes even connect to them long enough to get a focus session in. My first few server experiences were kinda bland; chat was quiet, players were scattered, and my priority was gaining tickets to buy better clothes. Also, the world is static: lighting never changes, there's no weather, every map is the same, etcetera etcetera. Today was a different story. I started in a server hosting folks from all corners of the world; China to Europe to mid-USA. Most of us were just chilling on floaties in the same tiny pond, getting stuff done. The chat was friendly, if a bit stilted. When that inevitably disconnected, I relocated to the first server on my list and hung out there all day, enjoying the nice mix of ages and interests. I played D&D (charisma checked a needle monster in impromptu RP, thank you) and sat on mushrooms and even added some new Steam friends, all while getting Work Things done at an accelerated clip. Folks congregated in unique places and hyped up each other's real-life and in-game accomplishments. It was like listening to the world's most wholesome water cooler talk. Recommendation I wouldn't recommend this to decorators or peeps who prioritize character customization, but I think it's amazing for anyone working, studying, or even hobbying in solitude. Humans are tribal creatures; we get lonely at times. This is an adorable solution to that problem. absolutely hogs GPU usage even when in the overlay, don't expect to edit videos with this or do any GPU intensive work unless you want a 50% performance tank. i feel like there needs to be a mechanism where the majority of assets fully unload if you select the overlay i hope this game can be better optimized in the future. it would make a massive difference
I was using Webfishing for background chatting while I worked. Was interested in this this since it seemed built for it specifically. I had also previously tried Bongo Cat, which is another productivity coworking game, but didn't like how it tracked all my keystrokes, and overall didn't really incentivise work-- id see people just putting it on while gaming. I have seen Gogh, but they lacked body types and furry characters to grab my interest. If you like chatter while you work, this game wont really provide that -- people are all focusing (makes sense). Theres occasional smalltalk, but really, a lot of people feel afk -- it doesn't feel like we are co-working. It's also hard to find people when you join a game, the map is large and feels empty. The game is new, it's buggy. You have to change a setting to stop it from blackscreening. This should not be necessary as i have played other games and applications with similar transparency features, without needing to change NVIDIA or Windows settings. EDIT:: this has been patched, but I still encounter bright flashing when entering overlay mode. I also get disconnected from servers for unknown reasons. Pomodoro timer, task list, and task planner are all nice productivity features. A feature I would love from another app i used is if the app detected afk activity and stopped your timer, to incentivise people to stay active if they are doing a computer task/ correctly mark as afk. Character customisation is geared towards humans, and a lot of animal options are not available from the start. Cosmetics dont fit with them, almost all hats look strange on these characters. You cannot access hair AT ALL as an animal head character. You cannot change your nose, you keep a dog nose, even if you are a cat. I would love more mouth options. You cannot change the colour of specific parts of you character-- this would be trivial to implement since they are already multiplying a colour over a texture. You can keep the tone information in the R channel, then use G, B, A for other colour regions. plug these in as seperate colour input masks. I just wish the animals were given the same love the human characters did. Because of this, I already am struggling to find things to use tickets for, I'm not interested in a lot of cosmetics because they do not fit with my character correctly. Overall, tentative yes... Really depends on what you are looking for... Try the game for an hour, see what you think. I'm hopeful a lot of these things will be addressed in the future.
This game is like.. criminally cute (adorable, even). Also had a conversation w/ someone who said they had plates from their grandma that contained 122,000 ppm of lead. Idk where you are lead plate person, but I am glad you got new plates that aren't trying to give you lead poisioning (i still think it was attempted murder on your grandmas part /j) Good game, very epik; I am going to contantly use this (also the notes/to-do/planner)s are really helpful and nice!
I've tried many focus apps throughout college and high school...Nothing truly beats the feeling of community I felt while playing this game with my Discord friends. As a chronically ill person who can't go outside all the time, this has been a blessing disguised as a virtual co-working game!
