"Unlike your planet, the flowers here... Are always in full bloom." One of, if not the best, story-driven indie game I've ever played. You can call me dramatic, but if you're into the narrative-driven space exploration with a strong emphasis on story, atmosphere, rich world building and emotional music, I couldn't recommend it enough. There's an easter egg about the previous OPUS game but honestly you don't really need to play the previous two to enjoy this one. The ending is overshadowed easily from the beginning but ehh it doesn't really matter. I legit will not recover from the story. Arghhh I'd rather stuck in that planet with Eda and die, PLEASE SIGONO add a new ending

Went in expecting a relaxing sci-fi adventure, but what I got was a genuinely emotional story that stayed with me long after I finished it. The characters feel real in a way most games never manage. Jun, Eda, Remi (which I feel like is the most complicated character in this game) they’re people you grow attached to. The writing is gentle but powerful, and the way the story unfolds makes every small discovery feel meaningful. By the end, I was way more invested than I expected to be. The atmosphere is incredible. The music and starsong puzzles create this calm, almost meditative vibe, and the art has this soft, painterly quality that makes every location feel like part of a bigger myth. It’s not a fast-paced game, and it doesn’t try to be. It’s slow, thoughtful, and surprisingly emotional. If you’re looking for something story-driven, heartfelt, and beautifully crafted, this game is honestly a must play. The music, especially the song that plays during the credits, is absolutely beautiful and ties the whole emotional journey together. For me, it’s the kind of experience that left me sitting there for a few minutes after the credits, just taking it all in. SIDE NOTE: After finishing the game, I went through the “Behind the scenes” section in the main menu, and it honestly made me appreciate the whole experience even more. Hearing the devs explain how this world came to be, their inspirations, the themes they wanted to explore, and the personal stories that shaped the narrative gave the game an extra layer of meaning. You can really feel the love and intention behind every detail once you know what went into creating it.

Mesmerizing. There isn't a single aspect of this game that is anything less outstanding. Space travel is addictive, music is beautiful, the story captivating, heartfelt and unfortunately for me an inevitable tragedy. First played it when it first came out on game pass, got stuck at chapter 3 because I ran out of gas, which served as an excuse to not finish it because I didn't think my heart would be able to take the ending, now I've done it, and I was right, but it's worth it to witness this masterpiece all the way through

Echo of Starsong is fabulous; I came in looking for a moving, story-rich game and that is exactly what I got! The writing and world building were excellent, the characters were compelling, the art and environments were appealing, and the soundtrack was haunting and beautiful. I played with Japanese VA and English subtitles, and I thought the Japanese voice acting was excellent. The story is also communicated in a handful of ways (e.g. live conversation, "memories" you collect as you travel, emails, cut scenes). which helped the narrative easily hold my attention. These elements absolutely carry the game, so I can't help but think it would be excellent as an animated film too. Hopefully they can make this a reality one day! At the risk of overselling its ending, which I suspect some players may find unsatisfying or even confusing, I thought it could not have been better, and it moved me to tears. I would recommend not waiting too long between starting and finishing this game for the full effect, though, or if that's impossible, at least going through the memories you've collected after your hiatus to give yourself a refresher on the game world and the events thus far. I'm looking forward to checking out some let's plays of the ending after I finish up this review. The storytelling is what will get players in the door, but there's enough variety in the relatively minimalist gameplay to add value over and above it. There's Oregon-Trail-style gameplay as you navigate between points of interest in Thousand Peaks, side-scrolling exploration sections with light puzzles, and a handful of seamlessly-integrated minigames to glue it all together. I found myself enjoying the core gameplay loop connecting the story beats. If you think you might be interested, I can't recommend Echo of Starsong enough! It's well worth your time at full price.

Sigono's magnum opus and my new favorite game of all time; One of the best science-fiction fantasies I've ever experienced: beautiful, refined, charming, with story & sound that move through the heart like tree roots cracking the sidewalk. Heavy on storytelling detail and narrative perspective with a plot that the game feels designed in order to tell, Echo of Starsong is full of both momentous twists and small moments in time fitted seamlessly in-between that help the world and characters come alive. It has no action combat or challenge mode; there is no downtime, no stopping to strategize over boss fights or level layouts. There are no challenges that can't be overcome with a little bit of forethought. But every minute spent playing this game is a minute spent in orbit, in revolution around the stars at the center of a world that still bleeds from its own history. Every minute spent playing is a minute spent discovering the past in the present, putting the pieces together, and seeing how something that must eventually come to an end all comes together.
