ORX is great! I want to get that out of the way, I love this game and its first 2 factions, which do a great job at creating interesting tower defense / deckbuilder gameplay! I'd write a whole lot more about how good it was... if it wasnt for the third faction. Please rebalance this faction. With the cards ive gotten *at the start of the game* i've created an archer giant who can run around at mach 11 to the point where he cant even get to an objective space. I've placed *one* festival and now I win every encounter easily. Please, for the love of god rebalance the Boreal Nomads. As well, villages objectives / cards can be acquired in the faction that just... dont work. Villages will ask for warrior camps you cant spawn, you can get. Rune cards??????????? which you cant use as well????? Just to add as well, some cards just dont load the text, and instead load the variables for the text. Same for a couple events. But thats a minor, fixable issue. Besides that, this games awesome. Pick it up!

This would be another great candidate for a neutral recommendation. The concept is great, I like the artwork and music and the 3 factions are each unique and very different from each other. That said, the game is plagued with bugs (item and event description missing, events giving castle specific tiles that are useless to races that don't use those, frequent crashes, fps drops). The balance is also absolutely messed up: the third faction has heroes that wipe the map clean on their own, while the second faction can be insta-killed in the final act by invisible enemies because they have no walls nor detection to stop them. All in all I'd still recommend to pick this up during a sale since the devs are still actively working on it, but they still have a long way to go.

I was very excited to play this game, I've held off on my review for quite a while. I enjoyed playing the demo years ago when it was all we had to experience the game play, I was so eager and hopeful that this game would be refined further and further, for the last couple of years I've wondered where the content deluge was, why wasn't my news feed filling with updates for the game still? Did it fully release while I had taken a break from it? No, the developers simply gave up. Make no mistake this is not a full indictment of the developers for abandoning their game, upon a quick glance at the Steam Charts website you can see the reason why they've completely abandoned this project. The simple fact is, this game died and was entirely pointless to work on within one solitary month of the game being released with the Steam Charts showing the player base go from a spindly 900 to a minuscule 100 in less than 30 days. If anything I want to briefly commend the developers for taking it upon themselves to support the game for as long as they did but I will also admonish them for being cowardly and not simply stating that this is indeed the final product. It is not bold to assume they (the developers) believe themselves to not even need to make mention the project is dead when the consistent player base as of the time of this review being posted is a measly <4> people. If you purchase this game, understand it is very unlikely the game will ever truly reach a finished state, as it stands now mechanics are implemented and progress was made far in the right direction from the demo version which released years ago but if you ever expected the "Early Access" tag to be removed, don't hold your breath and if things aren't to your liking or certain elements feel clunky (I have always found the card selection system to be a bit sticky and clunky) , then abandon this game like the devs have, I would never recommend a dead project still being sold to people regardless of any progress made over the years from an initial test or release build. Edit: January 1st 2025 - It looks as though last month the developers have gone and pushed out a fairly hefty update complete with a promise of future content to come, this is a bright spot of news that came just in time for the new year. Frankly I had almost abandoned all hope of Orx receiving any future updates, let alone improvements to existing features but it seems as though as time goes on the developers may in fact improve the game soon, for that reason I am in fact adjusting my previous rating from not recommending this game to recommending this game (for the time being) as long as they stick to their plan of future updates and content.

Well, this is hard AF to say if I would recommend this game or not... On the good side: I've been playing this game (at least a few hours every major patch) since the pre-release demo and I am really loving the idea of deck-building-towerlike-darkfantasy-carcassonny crazy mix. Game mechanics are awesome - big replayability (in theory), some rouglite elements, castle building/map painting fantasy in a quirky pixel orcpocalypse setting. 3 very different factions to play, randomised maps, randomised rewards, some story-arcs to follow in the campaign. It's all a big PLUS. ============ But please beware this is really-really-REALLY-UNPOLISHED diamond. ============ On the bad side: I'am afraid this is another example of an early access game that didn't really hit the sales mark and has been mostly left behind the publisher and the developer doesn't have resources for finish this to the point it can ever reach a "releaseable" state. There is a ton of things that really need fixing: - really bad performance issues caused by the spammy mechanics in a game (since forever); - some clear lack of internal beta-testing the patches before they go live; - really tidious gameplay-loop that you fall into if you want optimize your deck for every campaign - and many more to come; I the end I do recommend this game and I hope that some day some of the issues will be fixed be the developers so this will leave the early access and finally be a really unique diamond in the market <3
