Gorgeous game, a pleasant world to be in and a satisfying alien language unlock system. It is however better suited for mobile, can feel underwhelming on a PC platform. It is a lot of fun for a while attempting to master the strategy of resource management and exploration. Worth a play, even if it has a short life-span.

Out There: Omega Edition is based on an excellent mobile roguelike of exploring space in a ship with limited fuel and resources. The port to computer is fine, and it expands on some things nicely, with an extra ending. There's a huge amount of randomness, with some encounters slightly unfair due to unclear descriptions the first time through. The writing, music, and art is good. Definitely easy to die if you run into a hazard that strips your resources and the next couple planets you pull don't give you a way to replenish your stocks. I'm more of a fan of exploration and resource juggling than combat, so this game feels nice for me. If ya swing more the other way, FTL is apparently a good run. Semi-realistic spaceship combat with attention to resources is a bit much for me, so I tend towards more abstract rogue-lites like the card driven, furry, Cobalt Core. The sequel/reboot Out There: Oceans of Time adds some features and a new perspective with recruiting crew members for away missions. Not the best game launch, but the patches apparently have helped, so it may be worth checking out the reviews.

I played this before, and i bought it again on steam. I like the game, its better than others in this type of game. You are lost in space, must find your way home. The game can be brutal, its meant to play multiple games, and luck plays a role in your success. Over time, you can unlock new ships for subsequent runs. Multiple endings, and multiple story archs are possible, depending upon if you happen upon certain ones and have the ability to finish them.
