this game is my childhood, i always used to play this in the computer lab. now if you're uncultured and have no idea what this about is about, let me enlighten you.. this is pure heaven put all into one game. this is better than god of war. you work in a freezeria that papa left to you to be in charge. papa is gone. then you basically just do your job which is to take customer orders, make the milkshakes, and top it with some whip cream! while doing all of this, you're getting paid below minimum wage but with that paycheck you can buy clothes, get furniture for the place, and upgrade the store. you get to customize not one.. but TWO characters! oh theres also fun mini games and you can whip up your own drinks at the food truck. you also get very little bits of story, def not enough to say this is a story game but it haves like 0.05% story. thats the whole game. now, you must be thinking "oh, what a simple game" no. this is a game created by the best developer known to man... flipline studios. and it took me 52 hours to 100% it (for the 2 years i owned this, i didn't try to 100% for the first year and a half so that may be why) as someone who's been playing this ever since 4th grade AND 100% it, i give my blessing for you to play this game. play it and your life will change.
Everyone Loves Papa's Nuts in their Ice Cream The Good [*]Extremely nostalgic, this series of games were part of browser games' peak [*]Gameplay loop is satisfying, especially when you get into the groove of things, really makea you feel like an experienced, seasoned worker after a couple of weeks [*]Sheer scale of the Papaverse is surprisingly big with 100+ unique characters [*]I just love all the goofy ingredients, ranging from "that actually sound pretty good" to "wtf is that ew" [*]Pretty big catalogue for clothing and deco if you like that, and it engages you with it through holidays and bonuses [*]It does make you feel like a veteran worker at some point, getting used to timings, perfect toppings placement, and station switching The Bad [*]This game is EXTREMELY formulaic, after like a couple weeks, everyday will become the EXACT same, 7 orders per day, 1 (or 2 if you have the upgrade) special(s), new special every 3 days, closer at the end, minigame after. The only thing that changes are the customers and orders, but none of the customers or ingredients provide any gameplay differences, so gameplay wise it's the same over and over again every single day [*]Because of the above, this game I personally found to be extremely boring for the majority of the time, I started watching youtube alongside the game after roughly 5hrs in, and did that for the remaining ~20hrs of completion. Truly at some point it made me feel like I'm attending a usual 9 to 5 job (Go immersion i guess?) [*]I wish there were more progressive upgrades that shake up the game a bit, all the upgrades can be gotten within a couple hours, and they help with the game, which ultimately makes things easier, but doesn't add any interesting new mechanics to the gameplay loop The Minigames [*]Special section dedicated to the mini games, ranked best to worst imo [*]Rico's Chiliworks: Just a solid puzzle game, with perfect time pressure. You can systematically go through the pipes to narrow stuff down, and it's really satisfying to get right. Shame that puzzles eventually repeat, though it's complex enough to still be fun on repeats [*]Slider Escape: Also a fun puzzle game, but with no time pressure. Puzzles seem to repeat more than Rico's, and these puzzles are a lot simpler, so some solutions you kinda just remember when they repeat [*]Sundae Shot: Not too complex, just a fun shooting gallery game, I like how fast some groups appear and disappear [*]Breakfast Blast: Same gameplay as above, just slower and more tedious imo [*]Papa's Raceway: This game kinda is just decided at the start with RNG, whether you get boxed into obstacles, or off of booster pads, and there's basically no way to catch up if you fall behind, and vice versa for if you get ahead [*]Customer Cravings Returns: The game is not bad, just not for me, I believe other people will genuinely be able to connect and remember each customer and their orders, but for me it's unrealistic with there being more and more customers (up to 100+), all with different orders, which also change with the holidays. I just had to use Google Lens + a cheat sheet lol [*]Blender Ball: This game just straight up doesn't work on the fastest levels, the Power Levels are impossible to time, and are mostly RNG. I've read that it might be a framerate issue with this modern port, but that I'm not sure. I remember how, back in school, everyone would play this game in computer class, even if given a single second of free time, and when I found out that it was released on steam, I had to give it a try. Back then, I only got to day 5 at max, I never knew how much content the game really had, from characters, seasons, ingredients, minigames, cosmetics, etc. I still have a lot more to see, and I recently found out there is technically an ending. Overall I am happy the creator of these is still making/remastering Papa's games. 10/10 game
