What begins as an old seaside legend about a mermaid ends up being a story about the depths of the human heart. In the end, people are more relentless than legends.

Good mystery like the game before it, but delivered much better. Every character introduced feel much more deliberate and with purpose than in the Seven Mysteries of Honjo, where a lot of the characters where there mostly by happenstance. Additionally, these characters are given much more time to breath and be fleshed out, each one adding a unique perspective to the events unfolding in the game. I found the story more enjoyable as well. Not as "high stake" or action packed as Seven Mysteries, Mermaid's Curse takes a slower approach to its mystery, giving the player plenty of background regarding mermaid folklore, Japanese history, and and culture of small fishing villages. While this does a great job setting the mood for the game, there are some segments where it comes off as info dumping (case in point being Avi's first chapter). Luckily, most of the scenarios have an even balance of background information that will be useful later to "plot" that adds to your immediate understanding of the story. Overall, I'd say its a very competently put together mystery and I look forward to any future entries we might get in this new series.

Fun dive fishing game! Oh, and there is a visual novel attached to the side. That's cool I guess. In all seriousness, The Mermaid's Curse is a great follow up to The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. It maintains that same level of writing, containing a gripping mystery populated with endearing characters. I really love the cast in this one. I did have issues with the pacing at times. Some chapters went a little too heavy on the exposition. And it felt like it took a while before the action really kicked in. It did pick up in speed eventually. It doesn't get nearly as scary as the first game. But if you loved the first Paranormasight, you'll love this one too. I highly recommend playing The Mermaid's Curse.

Imagine my shock when I heard that a second PARANORMASIGHT game got announced, with the game releasing mere weeks after. I thought the first game was a beautiful, underrated gem and I never could have guessed a sequel would be made. I am glad this was made, for this game is FIRE and GOD I MISSED THIS MUSIC ITS SO GOOD Even basic stuff like the UI got a huge upgrade, now being very water-centric and themed with all these cool visual effects. Of course, the Paranormasight series just nails visual presentation no matter what it does. Beautiful artstyle, great set-pieces, its all amazing and I'm blown away every time I look at a game like this. It just scratches the brain in the most perfect way, whether it be the character designs or the horrific curses they pride themselves in showing. A big addition that did not exist in the original game is this cool diving minigame that seems pretty central to the experience. Its fun (although really easy for me to mess it all up), and there is a bit of strategy you gotta put into it between picking which skills to level up and committing to grab things that you might not be able to afford grabbing The characters are already gripping me (even with their at times odd dialogue and actions). The game does not shy away from feeding you a lot of information on these characters right away, so you can slide right into their shoes. Its one of the things I love about the first Paranormasight; that being the abundance of information on any relevant character or topic, so you can fully understand and appreciate what is going on. It seems to be just as well executed in this game Quick note, the HORROR of Mermaid's Curse is quite a bit less than Seven Mysteries, so if you were planning on going in for non-stop scares, you may not get that. Even still, it clings onto that great sense of mystery that the first game had, and it does it well. Its a shame that it lacks that overt scare factor, but you still feel like a genius solving some creepy supernatural mystery, and thats good enough for me. Yeah I already feel myself getting addicted and finishing this in a day or two, just go for it
