SUPER fun. Recommended. OK I am going to write this review, possibly update it later. But since the game is on sale, some might be looking at it. Particularly after playing other games like Tale of Immortal or Wandering Sword. What this game is: This is a Chinese game made by Chinese speaking devs. Not a major powerhouse with a big war chest of resources. They have tried to expand their audience after launch, after receiving good feedback from English speaking players desperately wanting to play this game. To do that, they used a machine translator. The translation really sucks lol. Not only does the translation suck, they decided to anglicize the names so you have a lot of randomly generated NPCs named Bob Johnson and other weird stuff. Could have just kept the Pinyin names but hey. Not only that, the text translation doesn't fit the text box half the time and it's very hard to read. Devs, : 游鲤化龙工作室 might want to read the below, 翻译一下 哈哈 But let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. The game is good enough that fan fixes are in place to shore up the language. There's an excel sheet from github you can over-write the original file with. Pinyin names like He Fei or whatever instead of King Charles. There is a discord where a dev has uploaded a fan fix for the weird text translation issue and it works pretty great. These fixes are readily found in the community threads. The game is fun enough that fans want to make it work! That's probably a lot of work you don't want to do, and that's okay. But if you're not opposed to do spending a few minutes prepping the game to play? Things I like Very addicting game. It's sort of an RPG/beatemup hybrid. You are a martial artist starting basically from zero and working your way up making enemies, allies, and other relationships with characters. What build you play, what you become is up to you! Environment and aesthetic is not something you have played before. If you played Tale of Immortal or another cultivator game, you'll like this one. Things I don't like So far the translation hiccups are the main thing holding the game back. Right out of the box, it's an eyesore. That's going to alienate a lot of players (though I reiterate, it's worth putting in a few minutes to patch the dumb stuff out). The developers have a great game to share with the world, I encourage them to figure out to polish up the english version. As it stands, I would buy Wandering Sword and Tale of Immortal for a friend, but probably not this one given the extra effort.
I managed to use a more recent AI model to retranslate the entire game into a better, more understandable form of English. The story is good- the game needs some balancing though, some weapon types just do nothing and fights become a juggling act in the corner for longer than it really needed to be. If you like Wuxia, this is a good game- only once the translations get fixed, or I'm allowed to publish my english translation as a fan fix.
I have had a really good time playing this the english translation does need work specially with the dialog for the story alot of times it doesnt make sense what they are saying .But at least 95% of the menus and interface are english so you can play it. This has a ton of potential i hope they contunie to add to it for new events and stuff you can do mabey be a store merchant ,black smith or a doctor and heal people or a caraven escort agency exc exc. I am doing a run in the sandbox i wish there was alot more events that happen more often and more to do seems like alot of the npcs in the towns for example the familys in there mansion are all gone and npc in other stuff would be cool if there was more interactions with the familys mabey help 1 take the other out exc. i hope they add more verity in the gang missions there is so much they could add for that . but overall its alot of fun i just knocked out 4 npcs that were way higher realm then me took them to my dungeon threating to kill them they begged to be my house servants now there my body guards. 2 were women now that also my coubines carring my kids lol crazy how much potential this really has and the organic storys that happen while playing . I personally really like the wuxia cultivation open world sandbox games unfortunately there is not alot out there atm so this might scractch that itch for some 1 looking for this type of game.
