Difficulty curve is definitely something, However this is what makes a game special. Everybody loves bowling. It's our favourite pastime. This game has a lot to offer for what it is and the developers are constantly on the updates! It's also great to play with friends on a weekend when I have chance. So if you ever have an edge to do some bowling. This game is definitely one to pick up.
Edit - The netplay portion of this game is absolutely abysmal and should be avoided at all costs. I'm not sure who designed the networking backend for this, but it plays like a console game from the early 2000s. You can't even time your release properly because there is so much interference from the terrible netcode. After the third frame I just quit. DO NOT bother with online play in this game. Atrocious. --- If you're a bowling enthusiast, this is probably the best effort to date in this medium where ball physics/motion, pin physics, oil breakdown and overall accuracy of the representation of the sport is done pretty well. It's also a useful training tool for targeting/spare conversions if you don't have an established system yourself yet for when you actually head to your center to throw a real ball. As a video-game, it's enjoyable to an extent, but I strongly feel this will get the most mileage from people that are serious about the sport and want to understand the nuances of it better. Equipment, ball-motion, targeting/spare-shooting, and laneplay/following transition. Obviously you'll have to be in the center yourself to put things you perform here into practice, but it's again, a really useful training tool first, and a half-decent video game second. Nothing will obviously replace being in a center actually practicing, either by yourself or with a coach. MMV how much use you will get out of this game in this context. Personally, it's helped me a great deal in the short amount of time I've been playing it. Don't be surprised if you see plenty of buggy animations, terrible character models, and subpar performance as this game isn't very well optimized or even polished in this context. But for all the important things where a bowling video-game is concerned, it excels. There are currently 70~ or so campaign events in the tour, and there is netplay with crossplay recently added. I'd imagine the playerbase across all platforms for this game however is relatively low and I've yet to be able to find an online match. Suppose I'll have to try during non-degenerate hours. In short, yes, I'd recommend this to individuals seeking a useful training component to actual, real-life bowling experience. If you're here just for a video-game, your money is frankly better spent elsewhere.
There are not many bowling games on Steam, and the ones available are generally not very good. PBA Bowling 2026 is definitely one of the better ones, with a lot of variety in oil patterns, balls, and actual PBA pros you can bowl against. If you're worried the game is too easy, play it on Pro mode... and then after you've beaten the game, do it again on the very challenging Hall of Fame mode! I do wish HoF Mode had been unlocked from the start, so I didn't have to beat the game twice... but still did all that in under 14 hours (about 6.5 hours to 100% first playthrough and then another 7 hours to beat HoF mode as quickly as possible... the last 4 tournaments took about 3 hours by themselves!) The $40 price tag is a bit much, but it's a licensed game, so that always makes it pricier. I'm just glad the PBA Bowling series is finally not terrible.
Fun but career mode is disappointing. I like the quick play mode because you can select the game type you want to play. However, the career mode first forces you to play the tutorial even if you already played it already but doesn't allow you to define the events you want to play in. For example, I just want a career in ten pin bowling but the career mode forces you play other modes which is very annoying. If I had known I would only be happy with quick play I would have waited to purchase.
