It feels exactly like Skate but with rollerblades, controls are snappy and fun and fluid, although slight issues with the camera hitching to weird spots. The issue is there's no real game here yet, there's only 3 small maps that each have 3 small challenges on them, no real missions or form of progression and play areas so small it's clear this is more like a tech demo, but if a campaign similar to Skate and an open world is added in the future then this will be a masterpiece.
Really impressive for an early access game! Flips and spins feel smooth and satisfying, and grinds and switchup controls are pretty smart. I've skated for 20+ years and I find this activates the same areas of my mind as the real thing - you can really think like a skater. If you are experienced in inline, you will pick it up quick. There is some jank as to be expected from a wip physics sandbox game and plenty of room for improvement, but the foundation is solid. Excited to see where the game is headed and hope there will be mods/map support in the future
This game is basically Skater XL or Session with Rollerblades, so if you're into that this is the game for you! Some of the Pros -Graphics and Physics are great for an early access game -Style of the skater looks really cool -Controls for grinds and switch ups can be compared to real life -I've experienced few bugs, none that were game ending Cons (just picky stuff) -Only 3 maps, one of which feels empty (more being added I'm sure) -Lack of customization options for skater and skates (again...more being added I'm sure) -No negative grinds...yet The game is still in early development, but I highly recommend checking it out if you ever rollerbladed or enjoy skater sim style games. Really hoping that add mod support for maps, clothing, etc.
Growing as a skater from northern California in 90's/ early 2000's, I had always dreamed of a game that could capture the feel we always had a skaters. The little nuances of body movement, slightly missing a rail and falling over, the satisfaction of finally landing a trick. We first got aggressive inline, which was great for the era - the whole tony hawk days of arcade style skating - then an xbox variant I never played called rolling I think. Most recently there was a game called on a roll, this got really close. I was really excited about it and it felt like it was clearly unpolished, but had amazing potential. That project was abandoned. I can now safely say that we have gotten what we have all been waiting for. Even in it's early access state, this game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ laced it. The controls - easy to basically understand, but the apex for mastering is on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Jupiter - are outstanding. The body movement and physics are fantastic, will need some polishing to nail it down completely, but bravo so far. Yet, most importantly, it feels like I AM skating. I'm a 40 year old dad with a broke ass body from skating and snowboarding for over 30 years. I wouldn't dare get on a down rail without the chance of being literally bed ridden for two weeks. This game gave my love for skating new life. Lets, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, go.
