OGNEDYSHASHCHIY TAPOK This is a pure, hardcore 'bullet hell' game where the Phoenix team fights through hordes of mythical bosses across a hundred levels. The main feature is that each level ends with a showdown against 1 to 4 enemies, requiring flawless reflexes and smart dodging, all controlled with just the mouse. The character and enemy designs are interesting, though not mind-blowing. The game totally delivers what you’d expect from the genre: enemy attacks are varied, and the difficulty ramps up smoothly (you can’t just hide in a corner). It’s great that even when enemies get tougher and more dangerous, you don’t feel like quitting early; instead, it pushes you to keep going and win. For newcomers to the genre, the game can feel pretty long. Extra missions, sadly, don’t really mix things up. They’re basically the same boss fights (one to four per level) with the same backgrounds. They’re handy for farming coins you need to boost the phoenix’s super ability and damage. But grinding through all those extra hundreds of challenges just to get the final purple Phoenix feels kinda sketchy. There’s also a frustrating flaw in presentation: the story, so vividly described on the Steam page, doesn’t actually show up in the game—no comics, no cutscenes. Considering the art style, the storytelling potential was huge. As for balance, out of the six available Phoenixes (I couldn't test the sixth one since I've only completed 52 extra missions), the ice one really stands out. Its ability to freeze enemies gives, honestly, a REALLY big advantage in battle, which makes the other pilots feel kinda underpowered, like the one who can teleport. Even though the developers encourage you at the end of the game to follow them on social media, promising a continuation of the story, no sequel has come out since 2014. It's a shame because the game turned out solid, and a potential sequel could have easily fixed the balance issues and the overall story. Still, the game is worth checking out and is a fun way to kill some time. P. S. 2x. Did you like the review or my profile? Drop a Steam reward for the review. Fun, challenging, arcade style-game where you face increasingly difficult levels and have to use 1 of 6 characters to beat them. You guy is your courser, and you guide it through a mess of screen spamming things trying to kill you. Frustrating at times, but reminds me a lot of those older fly-by shooter games.
