This game has an interesting premise but I think it falls a little flat in execution. I consistently find that the most efficient way to set up a production line is to research all the slots and then put them in a line. No deviation is allowed from the proper order, even for components that wouldn't have any effect on each other's installation. It's also difficult and space-consuming to batch multiple of the same slot to increase throughput- you can't put them sequentially, and any kind of parallelism quickly starts consuming more space with conveyors than slots. So instead of implementing any realistic industrial engineering techniques, it simply becomes an exercise in repetition. And while the production line slots have different shapes, this fails to add interest to the production line because they still fit best in a straight line. Despite these flaws, I think this game still has promise for a sequel to hopefully fix these issues. A lot of the other mechanics are fairly solid and could hold up for several times as much gameplay time as the ten hours I played before writing this, but I don't think that helps when the title mechanic starts to wear thin. And if you get this on as cheap of a sale as I did, ten hours of fun is well worth the price.

Nice chill game for drinking coffee relaxing and making cars... No longer any updates coming through which is sad because more car types and mods would be nice but not in the cards. Workshop mods are not easy i would guess because not much available worth downloading. Buy it on sale. No longer being worked on.

TLDR: Basically, there is nothing interesting or satisfying about the gameplay or economic side of things, so just know that. This is likely just a classroom simulation software that someone slapped some 2005 graphics onto as a hobby project or something. But it works, I didn't encounter any bugs or issues in my 24 hours of having the game running other than 1 crash early on, and if you like operations/automation/factory games this is probably worth it to play through once at the -70% sale price. This is a tough one. I only recommend for people who love this type of game, AND while it's on sale because $25 regular price feels kinda ridiculous for something like this. I don't really know what I expected, as this is a perfectly competent little operations simulation, but I definitely expected... something. This isn't really much of a "game" in my book since there's no challenge and it's really just place your factory efficiently and wait, but it's been fun to tool around with. Just know that there's no "gameplay" to speak of. I just got Production line the other day and right now during the spring sale it's $7.49, and that honestly feels a bit high. For $24.99 full price. this is definitely NOT worth it for the vast majority of people, and for most people this isn't really a game so it won't be worth it ever. Production Line isn't really a game in that there's no difficulty really, and you basically set up your factory and wait for some research to be done, then add the new facilities or designs that you've researched, and wait some more. Oh, and occasionally you have to raise or lower your prices (if you want... you could also just wait for them to randomly change back), because randomly the "competitiveness" of the market will change. Competitors are mentioned ("competitors have researched ABS and it is now more common.") but there are not really competitors. It's just you watching a car factory with really bad graphics. It's super easy to research way ahead of the "competition," so that all of the parts in your car are rare or extremely rare (as in, I did this by accident), and I assume this impacts the sales of the cars but I'm not really sure since they just all seem to sell for something like $10k-$30k+ profit anyway. Competition has nothing to do with the market or how many cars you should produce, since there aren't really competitors producing cars and it's just the abstract idea of "competitiveness" increasing or decreasing prices. That's pretty lame. Along the lack of competition thought, I assume marketing does something but once again I'm not really sure. I just keep running the marketing plans because... why not when you are just sitting watching money increase? They say they give you $1.2 million in additional revenue or whatever, but I really don't notice since money is always rolling in, so I'm not sure if marketing is actually useful. I can imagine that if you just produced one model/trim of vehicle and did no marketing that maybe you wouldn't be able to sell them all, but I can't imagine how boring that would be or why anyone would do it. In terms of not really being a game, I guess the scenarios have some goals or something but there's just no way you could possibly fail unless you just genuinely have no understanding of operations/logistics (except possibly when you're figuring out how things work during your first run, since the info. you'd actually want to know about how this "game" works isn't presented to you anywhere, and the help tab is... basic at best). It's more like some kind of simple simulation software you might see in an early operations class, but with a basic isometric graphical display tacked on. That's genuinely what I think this is, by the way. Buuuuuuuttt... for less than $10 ($9.78 with the DLCs that you definitely don't need since they only add different looking cars which adds literally nothing to gameplay), I've played something like 24 hours on my first play. Raking in cash, hundreds of millions in revenue, expanded factory, and all the things. I can't really see any reason to ever play again, or to keep playing, but there's something satisfying about watching the cars get built, and I prefer making cars to Little Big Workshop or something (even though that's a MUCH better game, and there are MANY better automation games than this one). This is a great idea, and I'll probably screw around with it more just to... I don't know... make 1000 cars an hour or something, but that'll amount to just setting up a factory and walking away while it runs for a while, making a tweak, and letting it run more. Anyway, as I said in the TLDR at the top, the gameplay and economics are pathetic, and this is more of a basic simulation program than a game. But it works, I only had 1 crash and no bugs, and for less than $10 I got hooked on it for a bit until I realized it starts easy and just gets easier. Even then I kept it running and messed with it occasionally, and watched some cars roll through. Basically, this is the most unsure recommendation and I usually wouldn't post anything in that case, but I wanted to let people know what exactly this "game" is. I'm not mad I bought it for less than $10, but I definitely don't think it's worth $25 ($32 with DLC) when other games exist, and for *most* people this will never be fun at all.

Its a good game overall. Really enjoy many aspects of it. However, there are still a few bugs and problems and I wish the developer would have continued working on it but it hasn't been updated in half a decade. If you are still selling the product 5-10 years later, you should be updating is as well.

I bought Production Line a while ago and just started playing it recently with racking up 72 hours on it and counting. It is an older game but if you are into tycoon like games then It is a solid buy! At first I wasn't a huge fan, I had a few moments of confusion, The basic set up is pretty self explanatory which was a plus and they do offer in game tips which are necessary early on, but I would get stuck on certain things (Mostly manufacturing and stock pile set up). The in game guide provides bare bones information with little/poor explanations on and the forums that exist aren't to shabby either. Once i overcame that and figured it all out the game got addicting and highly enjoyable. They offer a variety of factory scenarios from sandbox, competing with AI rivals and a few others that I haven't delved into just yet myself but slowly working my way to them all. You have the option to start off in factories of various major cities (Detroit, Atlanta, Etc.) All with different factory layouts and you essentially have to get your business up and running. Seems easy but once you factor in the money of it all that is what gives the game the biggest strategy and in hindsight is the essence of the car industry (and capitalism). I would recommend playing sandbox mode first after the intro tutorial just to make sure you got everything down in relation to the set up and placement of the materials within the game. That way once you set up for the scenarios and factory modes you don't go bankrupt and get frustrated and never want to play again lmao. Once you got a handle on it all, the fun of the game really sets in and you get lost in the sauce and you lose sense of time. I do believe there is a DLC to the game for added car designs which is nice I guess, but It isn't necessary for the actual enhancement to the game. In my personal opinion you could save yourself the $10 dollars and put it elsewhere or wait for it to be on sale.
