I hate the fog, and there doesn’t seem to be a crappy weather cooldown. Otherwise, I’ve loved this game. It definitely isn’t a “speedrun” game. You need to pause, plan, and prepare. There are a few things I would like to see improved: 1. I would like the trail I ran color coded…. When I die, by my own fault, and I look at the map and see I practically touched 4 cabins, I would appreciate some context. Day/night/fog/blizzard, whatever. 2. Give me a pencil to mark the map. This doesn’t have to be an automatic thing (like tell me where I am), but more a “let me mark where I think I am.” My runs on this game are a little long, and I would love if the continuity was more than a screenshot and a jotted note. If you developers are cruel, and I know you are, have the “Pencil” to make those marks on the map only spawn in one of the original cabins marked on the map. 3. Let me pick and save my starting rig. I’ve played a bunch of times and I wish I could just save or select what I want in my inventory (maybe a perk after finding the tower). Like…. I can only save in the starting cabin but before leaving a radius? Maybe a save only available after the 7 day achievement? ETA - I mentioned the weather cooldown... I've been sitting in a barn waiting for the back-to-back-to-back hail and rain storms to pass for over 2 in game days. It's kind of a bummer when you have an hour to play and literally end up sitting there staring at your monitor waiting to be able to do anything.

It's fun enough. Wait for a sale though. I mostly got it to just explore the country side. The survival aspect of the game is simply not to par with others yet. It's basically cabin searching to recharge and repeat till you can make it to the weather tower. Two hours into almost beating the base game, I caught caught in a snow storm at night with no way to climb the mountain or light a fire and died of hypothermia. This game is not finished yet and has many many things that needs fixing which I have called out to the devs but unsure if they actually took my suggestions seriously... Here are some suggestions that would make this game phenomenal: - Camping while in peaceful mode. I'm talking setting up a tent, doing the whole campfire thing and making food I had prepped in my daypack with. - Need to be able to sleep through the night. Whether its a real bed, leaf bed or sleeping bag. Have a hunger/thirst penalty for all I care, but for a realistic game, sleep is a factor. - Being able to mark on the map with a pencil and erase. I'm pretty good without it but just heading in one direction can get stale after awhile. Especially when I need to be lucky enough to find a much needed cabin at night. - Please please make the sun rise in the east and set in the west. This is supposed to be a realistic game. - Perhaps some kind of minigame involving cooking various campfire dishes in aluminum foil or whatnot. - I need to be able to boil water to make it drinkable and not lose out on 50% of the water I had collected. - Simple things, like pressing the same button to put an object away, at least 5 or 6 hotkeys would be great, and shift-click to auto pack things. - They say there is controller support, but it is super wonky and I find myself having to revert to mouse and keyboard. - make it co-op BUGS - I go through rocks sometimes since some don't have collision turned on - sometimes a twig stops me in my tracks - sometimes climbing a rock cancels on me and while the full animation runs through, it puts me back to where I started - too often I can get stuck in a rock valley and the screen becomes jittery That's all for now, will edit if more comes up.

I know the reviews are mixed, and a lot of you are complaining that the game is missing tons of elements. I won't disagree—it's still unfinished, lacking features, content, goals, items, mechanics, and more. BUT, I remember starting during the playtest and beta. I was totally lost, digging online just to figure out how to play. Graphics were rough: rocks looked awful, no food or water in the starting cabin, weird weather mechanics, and a horrible landscape. Despite all that, I sunk over 30 hours into that beta! I've watched it transform: Food, water, and lighting options added to the starting cabin. Graphics overhauled—rocks now look realistic! Bugs fixed (no more getting trapped in rocks or trees after we reported them). Landscapes turning stunning with each update. Yes, it's Early Access, so expect it to be a work in progress. But this steady evolution makes it worth playing now and worth the wait. It's a fresh take on the genre that will surprise and delight you as it grows. The devs were super responsive during playtest and beta—active on Discord, reading every comment and suggestion and this is the reason I was more than happy to buy the game in EA to support the team who develop this game, because supporting them will allow me to eventually enjoy the end result. Yes you will die more often than you succeed, but dont let that discouraged you. This unique gem is on track to become a masterpiece!

So the game is barebones, missing a lot, and objectively: an unfinished, unpolished tech demo. But I see the potential and future of this "game" that I deeply enjoy playing it. Some of the things I have to test in order to enjoy these little things because they make sense in the real world. If you wear a waterproof jacket, your insulated underwear won't get wet by the rain. the sun rises in the east, sets in the west. Lighters have fluid that can run out. insulated shoes are nice, waterproof shoes keep your feet dry. taking off clothes and getting in water won't get your clothes wet. These all make sense in hindsight, but to test them by hand it grants a sense of genuine accomplishment because no one told me or explained to me how this works. I was dying of hypothermia, My matches were completely soaked. I found a cabin and there were no matches. I thought outside the box. turned on the generator to the home. swapped some fuses to turn off the lights, but I turned on the stove. throw all my firewood on the lit stovetops. they're burning. it saved my life. No one told me I could do this, it just makes sense. If there's going to be more types of interactivity of this base level and beyond, I look forward to its future.

Early access reviews that praise a game's "potential" are kinda pointless but in this case you can clearly see where the game is heading and how good it will be when it gets there. On release it's still very bare-bones but once they've added some of the things promised on the Roadmap (notably fuel and electricity management) it *should* be an excellent "you vs. Mother Nature" survival game. If you have a realistic understanding of how early access works and are willing to contribute to the game's development (not just complain) and you're looking for an immersive real-world survival game (similar to The Long Dark, Green Hell and Survival: Fountain of Youth) you should enjoy being a part of this game's development.
