I’ve wanted to play Rake ever since I saw LordMinion777 play it when it first came out. Back then, I was hooked on the eerie atmosphere, the suspenseful hunts, and the raw tension that made every sound in the woods feel like the Rake was right behind you. Watching those videos sparked something in me — a mix of fear and excitement that stuck with me for years. Now, finally playing it for myself, it’s like stepping into a memory. The game might not have all the bells and whistles of newer horror titles, but that’s exactly what makes it special. There's a nostalgic charm in its simplicity. The visuals are gritty, the sounds are chilling, and the gameplay is pure: hunt or be hunted. Playing with friends brings back all the fun I remembered from watching it — panicking over distant screams and setting traps. It’s the kind of game that pulls you in and doesn't let go, especially if you grew up watching early YouTube Let's Plays. If you’re like me and this game’s been on your mind since those classic YouTube days, do yourself a favor and jump in. It's just as creepy, fun, and memorable as it looked back then.

Not the greatest graphics but is is a almost 10 year old game. But amazing game play so that makes it way better than it already is.

I would highly recommend this game, despite it being an older game, I like it better that way because its more focused on being scary than realistic, I like it better that way.

I.. adore this game. Having this game unfortunately locked away on an alt account (and it being one of the only games I have on it) Is rather upsetting, because this is one of- if not- my favorite horror game of all time. The graphics aren't very showy or good, infact, you could easily say the visuals of this game are pretty bad. The main menu shows more promising visuals than the rest of the game combined, the low-quality and low-polygon rake chasing after you with scripted, animated cutscenes littered in random spots throughout the map, with slow yet methodical gameplay to come along with it. I oftentimes find that the poor visuals of the game add to the overall look, and I became so immediately glued to this game way back when it came out, and the 2 years of semi-consistent youtube presence it had afterwards before falling into obscurity as if it hadn't existed at all. I loved this game. I still love this game. Everything about this game, the jank, the visuals, the gameplay loop, all of it adds up to this.. messy, silly, but classic and enjoyable game. Every time I come back I find myself glued to it for hours, having so much with what seemingly looks like so little. Laying out feed for the animals, tracking down the rake in a high-speed chase after narrowly shooting it to keep it away from me, Getting hyperfixated on the camera aspect of the game that I lose the night, all of these are enjoyable and rememberable parts of the game. I hadn't played this game for 5 years, and coming back to it so abruptly in the midst of 2024 was so.. amazing. The game had its classic appeal still, it felt like a timeless but left to rot masterpiece that could have gone to even greater heights if the popularity was simply good enough. This poor game deserves a second chance. I would be eager to see if a popular youtuber, especially one from around this time, could play this game and bring back its popularity. Perhaps even crack the game wide open to make some exciting, game-breaking and bug-abusing gameplay out of it, turning it from a strategical hunt of a (mostly gray but sometimes green and bloody) skinwalker in the woods to a silly map treck chasing this monster as if its some.. escaped prey. I've already discovered that this game has the classic unity game issue where holding W+A, or W+D doubles your speed due to oversight, and it helps with these chases quite a lot. It genuinely makes the core gameplay loop more interesting because you can finish preparing all your items within the first half of day one and then immediately set out to beating the rake on the first night. This game truly is a timeless masterpiece, even if the graphics dont show much and the game is buggy and outdated, left to rot by its creators yet milked for steam points when steam points came out 5 years after this games release. Even if you dislike horror games, even if you aren't very fond of the more old, not very visually-appealing game.. this game has a spark to it. It's beautiful in its own, little way. I'm sure if you give it a chance and explore it properly- you can find a lot of joy in this game. The 5 dollars is worth it, don't play any of the free modded versions or any of the fan recreations, as they never end up truly having the same shine and appeal that this game has.
