Another hidden masterpiece abandoned by Ubisoft! I understand why the Steam reviews are "Mixed," but the game has some really great points, so I highly recommend it to zombie game fans! Good [*] Graphics: Surprisingly better than I expected. [*] Fear Level: The fear level is pretty high compared to other zombie games. [*] Story & Atmosphere: The story and atmosphere are super immersive. [*] Hit Effects: The impact of combat feels satisfying. [*] Exploration & Puzzles: Great exploration with fun little puzzle elements. [*] Inventory Management: Tight inventory management, similar to Resident Evil. [*] Souls-like Mechanics: When you die, you spawn as a new survivor. If you fail to retrieve your items from your previous survivor, you'll lose them forever. Bad [*] Narrow FOV: You can only increase FOV by 10% max, which is FOV 60. Damn 60!!!!! [*] No Graphic Settings: There are NO graphic settings. You cannot turn off ugly effects like chromatic aberration or heavy bloom. [*] Too Dark: There is a brightness slider, but it only makes the screen look washed out, not actually brighter. [*] Sound Bugs: The game has serious sound bugs, so a sound patch is required. Good game but bad pc port needs a patch to fix the immersion breaking sound bugs (Patch - Look up ZombiUpatcher steam flagged the link as malware idk why) other than that this is a pretty underrated survival horror game sadly it does not have much replayability apart from a hardcore mode and finding all the cctv junction boxes there is pretty much nothing to do once you have beaten the game once i would recommend only getting this on sale
What a clunky mess. I was looking forward to the nostalgia of a PS4 favorite of mine, but my god does this run horribly. Prepare for crashes when loading in new sections of the game after you spent over an hour exploring a new section with the old-school hard save mechanics. After hitting zombies with the bat, their bodies fly through the air and will sometimes clip through walls while alive. I wanted to 100% this game, but I don't think I will. Edit: It seems that some patches have been implemented since the last time I gave the game a go. I did return to 100% the game, and I did not encounter glitchy gameplay during my second go at the game. I'm flipping my review to 'yes'.
