I bought it on sale and it was definitely worth it for me. You have multiple options to run your economy and each leader results in a different build and theres quite some cards and new things to unlock. I'd recommend it if you like tower defense and are ok with a fast paced gameplay. However, if you want aslow paced gameplay where you can observe in peace, you will be disappointed. Also, unit movement can be a bit annoying/frustrating, but for the most part you units camp at the outer wall without moving so usually that is not a big problem.
It is like a deck-building game with tower defense element - kinda creative and funny. Obviously some more improvements needed to make it a better game, like can we build on the second floor instead of extending the border farther and farther which makes the settlement harder and harder to manage?
There's a lot of reviews giving negative with only 1-2 hours of gameplay. It honestly doesn't feel like a fair assessment. Mine's no better at only 5 hours in, but it definitely did NOT feel as stressful as some of these other players have been saying. That said, it's not the greatest game ever. I did feel myself becoming bored with a rinse-and-repeat situation of how I SHOULD play the game, but it didn't make it terrible. If I could give this a sideways thumb, I would. 6/10 for me.
