Ricochet is a cross between a first person shooter, Portal and maybe some Tron. The game is PvP by design. The futuristic design gives plays more action with a variety of battle arenas. I got this with the Valve box. There are lots of servers but the game is usually quiet. Usually friends may play together but not much action anymore. This game is frequently heavily discounted. This game is rather undemanding. I played this on my Dell XPS 9570 with GTX 1050 Ti Max Q graphics.

RICOCHET: THE. SINGLE. GREATEST. VIDEO GAME. EVER. MADE. I am NOT being ironic. I am NOT exaggerating. I am speaking in absolute, undisputed, objective FACTS that not even the gods themselves could deny. Every single game that has ever existed before or after Ricochet is nothing but a cheap, uninspired, soulless IMMITATION of its sheer, unrelenting PERFECTION. You like Counter-Strike? Lame. You like Half-Life? Cringe. You like DOOM, Halo, Elden Ring, or whatever other weak, pathetic excuse of a game you've attached your miserable existence to? FORGET THEM. Throw them in the trash. They are NOTHING compared to Ricochet, the magnum opus of gaming, the epitome of peak performance, the culmination of human evolution itself. AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE AESTHETIC. That neon-lit cyber dreamscape, a world so ahead of its time that even TRON looks like a kindergarten crayon drawing. The jump pads—ohhh the jump pads!—so elegantly placed, turning every single match into an orchestrated ballet of raw, unfiltered skill. There has NEVER been a game like Ricochet, and there NEVER WILL BE. The industry PEAKED in 2000, not because of Counter-Strike but because of RICOCHET, and has been in a downward spiral ever since. Every game developer, every studio, every so-called "AAA masterpiece" has done NOTHING but chase the unachievable perfection of Ricochet and fail MISERABLY. You say "gaming is in a bad state." I say no, gaming is in a post-Ricochet dark age, and we are nothing but lost souls wandering in its shadow. IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED RICOCHET, YOU HAVE NOT LIVED. STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING. DOWNLOAD IT. PLAY IT. BECOME ENLIGHTENED. Only then will you understand. Only then will you truly game.

🎯 Rating: 7.5/10 📜 Overview Ricochet is a first-person multiplayer game developed by Valve and released in 2000 as part of the Half-Life modification scene. Later, it became a standalone title that combines fast-paced action and physics-based combat. In Ricochet, players use unique weapons to hurl discs at each other, bouncing them off walls and obstacles to score hits. The game's primary focus is on arena-based combat, where reflexes, strategy, and timing are key to success. While Ricochet introduced some innovative mechanics with its disc combat and physics, it has not gained the same level of popularity as other Valve games, like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress. Despite this, it holds a niche fanbase and is appreciated for its distinctive style. 🌟 Pros ✅ Unique Combat Mechanics – The disc-throwing gameplay is an interesting twist on traditional FPS mechanics, encouraging players to think strategically about angles and timing. ✅ Physics-Based Interaction – The bouncing disc mechanic adds depth to the combat, as players must predict and manipulate physics to land successful hits. ✅ Fast-Paced Action – Matches are quick, keeping the action intense and requiring sharp reflexes from players. ✅ Simple Mechanics – The game is easy to pick up and play, with minimal learning curve for those who want a casual experience. ⚠️ Cons ❌ Limited Content – While the gameplay is unique, the game lacks the variety of maps, weapons, and modes found in other more established titles. ❌ Low Player Base – Ricochet has struggled with player retention over the years, making it difficult to find active matches outside of specific communities. ❌ Aged Graphics – Although it was impressive for its time, Ricochet's visuals feel dated by today's standards. ❌ Lack of Support – The game hasn’t received significant updates or new content for years, which makes it feel stale to some players. 💬 Player Sentiment Positive Reviews: The innovative gameplay and the fun, fast-paced combat make Ricochet enjoyable for those looking for a different experience in FPS games. Players who appreciate quick, arcade-style action often praise the game's approach. Negative Reviews: Criticisms focus on the limited content, outdated graphics, and the fact that it doesn't have the same level of depth as other Valve shooters. 🎯 Target Audience Players seeking a unique, physics-based combat experience. Fans of retro first-person shooters who appreciate older titles. Gamers looking for casual, fast-paced gameplay in an arena-style setting. 🏆 Rating Breakdown 🎮 Gameplay: 7.5/10 🎨 Graphics & Art Style: 7/10 🔄 Replayability: 6.5/10 ⚙️ Mechanics & Balance: 8/10 👥 Community: 6/10 Overall Experience: 7.5/10 🎯 Final Verdict Ricochet stands out due to its unique disc-based combat and physics mechanics, but it struggles with a small player base and limited content that holds it back from broader appeal. While it can be an enjoyable and casual experience for fans of retro FPS titles or those seeking a change of pace, it doesn’t have the depth or longevity of other more popular games.

I love this game, I played it a lot more when I was younger so I'm probably slightly biased. Some people view this game in a negative light, I certainly do not. Ricochet is fun, I just wish it got a 20th anniversary update, hopefully it will get a 25th anniversary update instead. Richochet is partially dead, but you generally can find at least one other person to play with, one other person is all you really need. Great to play with friends.
