I loved it really, especially how it's based of Wu Zetian However, there are some critiques about Li Tai's route and AI usage in the game. Li Tai's route, it just felt bittersweet and incomplete. It's definitely disappointing to those who really like him especially since the marketing differs from how the game is regarding his route. I hope the developers will add a dlc expansion pack for his route one day. As for the ai, I didn't really notice it until the end. And I must say, it's very disappointing now that I do. You can see that the game quality is actually good and has high budget. It's really an insult to those who did put such effort into the game like the actors. Pity to have spend so many hours in a game without finding out about it earlier. I still enjoyed my experience in the end, but knowing this now also just kinda ruined it for me. I would rate this game in between good and bad.

The only thing I don't like about this game is that the character Li Tai is barely used at all. The first game hinted at a second choice for companion, and it was a big disappointment that the writers were determined to stomp all over his character, as many (not just me) like his character a lot. Other than that, it's a good game. If they ever fix the Li Tai thing, it would be a GREAT game!

I completely lost track of time playing this. The actors' superb performances and the intricately woven story pushed my immersion to the absolute limit. It truly maximizes the charm of the interactive movie genre. Without giving away too many spoilers, the scene near the ending where Wu Yuanzhao tears down the beaded curtain gave me full-body chills. The catharsis of that single moment alone makes this game worth playing. Throughout my playthrough, I couldn't help but marvel at how far Chinese games have evolved in terms of directing and narrative depth. As an Asian female gamer who has built up a lot of frustration over the years, I want to add a very personal note. It is exhausting and bitter to watch the gaming industries in the >two countries< right next door to China act as if their only real competition is "who can dress female characters in the most perverted and hyper-sexualized costumes." Amidst that bleak reality, I am genuinely so thankful to the developers for creating a game that delivers such a heavy, independent, and powerful female narrative. Putting aside any political or historical messages, the game design itself is fantastic. The system and UI are highly intuitive and user-friendly, making it extremely easy to play even for those who aren't familiar with interactive games. It's been a long time since I've played such a well-polished game where every penny and minute spent felt completely worth it. If you enjoy royal court politics, drama, or deep story-driven games, I cannot recommend this enough!

Barely four hours of straightforward content for the Li Tai route - outrageous - and if you're here day one for it like I was, you will likely leave disappointed, despite the few worthy moments. Historical accuracy still left more than enough room for a better script, as RTE I clearly showcased. The majority of the Western audience was excited for this route, therefore its length and the lack of depth in their relationship, cannot be excused. Li Tai himself fell slightly out of character in many of the scenes too, which didn't work in the route's favor either. However, I respect the work the actors & devs put into this game, it really does look incredible and I believe the 'canon' route is where all the good stuff went, and I want this studio to keep working on more of these unique games, which is why I still decided to support them with a purchase and a positive review. I am yet to play the Li Zhi route but I feel in no rush to do so, after this bitter experience. To all other Li Tai fans out there, may this studio's next game bring us a canon romance we deserve for supporting them through this one. There's still a lot they want to see and do...

I'm getting mini-heart attacks each time I see osmanthus soup. Getting PTSD from soup wasn't on my 2026 Bingo. Love the rest of the game tho
