The Complex is an FMV game about a virus outbreak in London. The main character Dr Amy Tenant is a scientist who is trapped in a laboratory with a few colleagues, and must find a way to escape. This is basically an interactive movie, so gameplay involves watching the video scenes and then occasionally making a choice to influence how the story plays out. My first playthrough took only 76 minutes to complete, and my 2.6 hours playing time represents two full playthroughs. The actors did a good job, but the quality of the story is limited by its short length. While there are eight different endings, most of the story will play out in a very similar way. During my second playthrough I made a few different choices and I saw a couple of new scenes, but then the story moved itself back onto the main path to continue playing out the same way. I also counted three occasions where I could choose between two options, I chose option B, but another character overruled me and did option A anyway. I bought The Complex as part of a bundle. I specifically wanted Dead Reset, but I saw that for an extra £2 I could get 2 more games including this one. So the best recommendation I could give for The Complex is that I wouldn’t buy this game by itself, but its worth playing if you pick it up in a bundle.

⭐ My Verdict “If you’re looking for a short but engaging interactive thriller with real stakes and multiple outcomes, this one delivers.” 👍 What I Liked +The premise grabbed me: after a catastrophic bio-weapon attack in London you’re trapped in a locked-down lab with the clock and air running out. +It’s full live-action cinematic style, with real actors and a film-like production, which gives it a different feel than your standard game. +The multiple endings are a major plus. Depending on your choices you’ll be steered toward one of eight different outcomes. +I appreciated the “relationship tracking” and “personality tracking” systems — your decisions don’t just choose dialogue options, they affect how your character is read and how others respond. +For a budget indie/interactive-movie type, it does a solid job of suspense and keeping you on edge. The stakes feel real, and you feel the ticking clock. 👎 What Could Be Better -It’s relatively short. Because it’s an interactive film more than a full open-world or deeply mechanical experience, you’ll likely finish it in one sitting and then maybe replay to explore the other endings. -If you prefer rich gameplay mechanics (stealth, combat, open exploration) you might feel the lack — this is very story/choice driven. -Some choices feel like they don’t always have wildly different effects: you may notice only subtle divergences on a first run, so the “eight endings” claim might underwhelm if you expect dramatic branches for every decision. -Since it’s live action, you’re limited by film sets & filming quality — if you’re very picky about visuals or acting, then some moments might feel a little off. 🎮 Who Should Play It +Fans of interactive movies / FMV (full motion video) games who want a thriller vibe and decent production value. +Players who like story-rich experiences and are comfortable with choice-based branching rather than heavy control mechanics. +Anyone who has maybe an hour or two and wants a contained experience with replayability via multiple endings. 🚫 Who Might Skip It -Hardcore gamers who want deep gameplay systems, long campaigns, or sandbox freedom. -Those who dislike live-action video games or think FMV style is too limiting. -Anyone expecting the length of a full AAA game — this isn’t it. 📝 Final Thoughts Overall, I’d say The Complex is a worthy pick for what it sets out to be: a condensed interactive thriller with meaningful choices and decent replay value. It has some limitations compared to traditional games, but if you go in with the right expectations it delivers a compelling story experience. I give it 4 out of 5 stars — go in with an open mind about the format, and you’ll enjoy the ride.

You're not playing a character model; you're directing a real movie with actors. The decisions you make have a real impact on what happens next. There are eight unique endings. The plot is engaging and suspenseful, with some good twists. For an interactive movie, the performances and overall quality are solid. How you treat other characters affects your relationships with them and changes the story. It's about the length of a movie, so it's easy to play in one sitting. This makes it much faster to see all the different endings on repeat playthroughs.

Despite the fact Dr. Amy looks like my ex-girlfriend, I actually like this game quite a lot. I should start by saying that choices DO REALLY MATTER in this interactive film. Even some minor decisions from the very beginning can impact the outcome. In a nutshell, it follows the character likeability. How you get close or dislike a character will open new possibilities (if I'm not mistaken, there're 9 different endings and nearly 200 scenes to be unlocked). I like the story, the characters and find it pretty straightforward. You'll be compelled to replay several times to check how many possibilities the narrative can present you. At first I cosplayed a nice guy. In the others, a total ♥♥♥♥. And so on.

Short little movie game where choices matter. There aren't that many choices so its pretty simple. I will say that its maybe an hour and a half but it cut out before a save could occur so I lost progress. I don't know if I would pay full price for this game, but I got it on sale for $2.99 and I think that was worth it for sure. I like a few of the actors in this so its decent quality.
