This game has a ton of potential! This game launched into early access with much more features and content than a lot of other similar games have. Plus, they've already released some QoL updates, which is an incredibly good green flag for a developer (it means they care about releasing a good game, not just more content to farm fomo). For only 14 bucks it's definitely worth it, especially if you like survival city builders. The vast majority of negative reviews I've seen are just gamers with unrealistic expectations of indie-dev early access games. People are expecting a polished, bug free experience with 200+ hours of gameplay, it's crazy. The idea is new, the enemies have surprisingly good variety, and the boss fights are fun. Plus, despite some critiques I'll mention later, the town/city building is pretty satisfying. I also have to say, I LOVE not having to switch to my axe/pickaxe for resource gathering. Having dedicated inventory slots for them, and having them automatically used whenever I swing at a resource/building is such a damn good idea. For the rest of my review, I'm gonna list a few suggestions for tweaks. I will preface this by saying I can tell by the skeleton of things that the devs already have plans for these things in the future, so I'm just highlighting them in case they are novel ideas for the devs. First off, the UI feels awkward. There are a few occasions where I have to drag the town information card out of the way (when interacting with a crafting table) in order to see the description of the building I am trying to select. Fortunately you can drag around a lot of the UI elements to get them out of the way, but the fact that I have to do this at all is silly. Second, the game needs much better tutorials to explain core mechanics of the game that are not intuitive. One major example of this is the logistics. There are any number of errors that can be caused by imperfect implementations of the logistic systems of the game, and I'm sure many players are stumped by them. One example I have literally seen already in some players negative reviews is complaining about having to manually interact with buildings to deposit resources into them in order for their workers to craft stuff. These reviewers don't realize that you can have a town storage system that deposits these items automatically for you as the town workers need them. This confusion is something that a tutorial would prevent. Another example: You need to have enough open storage for resources in your town's dedicated resource storage buildings in order to unload *any* resources at all from a trade route. (i.e. you need 3 clay for a building, so you order a trade from another town to deliver 10. If you don't have 10+ space for clay, the trader will unload nothing. The game does not tell you why the trader is stuck and cannot unload. I can tell the devs don't want to have to hold their players hands through the whole game, but it's a fine line you must walk between making a challenging game centered around experimentation and being annoying as hell having to brute force your way to play. So, some more thorough tutorials for certain areas like logistics and town/crafting borders (see next paragraph) would go a long way. One major flaw of practically any survival game that involves building a base or town is limiting where you can build by tying them down to the "range" of the crafting table. At first, I thought that Romestead is exceptionally bad at this, because the ranges of crafting tables that are overlapping do not combine. This means you can only build structures within the specific range of the crafting table you are currently interacting with, regardless of whether or not the building area is within your town borders and covered by another, overlapping crafting table. **However**, I realized that this frustration was caused simply because I didn't understand the developers' intent with crafting tables. One key mechanic that they don't explain, is that you can pick up and move crafting tables (unlike any other structure in the game). This, combined with the fact that your town borders automatically expand as you build structures near the edge of them (another mechanic not explained in a tutorial), shows that the devs intend for players to pick up and move a crafting bench whenever it isn't close enough to where they are trying to build. Now that I realize their intent, this funky way of building makes sense and doesn't frustrate me like it used to. They are clearly trying to simulate how you'd build irl, you wouldn't scatter dozens of crafting benches throughout an entire city, you'd just set up shop wherever the construction is. I would bet that many players never pick up on this, and just get incredibly frustrated having to run between a dozen or more crafting tables all the time... The weapon balance is off. For how painfully slow the hammers are, they do not do enough damage. So far, the way enemies attack patterns are, ranged weapons or fast weapons like swords/daggers are encouraged and even required for some fights. Finally, the trinkets and many of the bonuses from favors feel incredibly weak. What is the point of 10% more damage when the damage values are 12-14? 2% more movement speed? You can't even tell the difference. I wouldn't be surprised that this is just because only early game content has been released so far, so hopefully as more content gets released we'll see more useful favors and trinkets. If you've read this far, wow, thanks for hearing out my ramblings. Buy the game, or wishlist it while you wait for 1.0.

Game is great! I got valheim progression and gameplay, stardew valley aesthetics (designing base and decorations), and Aska villager management. Game is still in early access but the boss fights so far (especially with the cyclops) are amazing and engaging. Never had a boss fight like that where there are so many mechanics and phases that keeps you on your toes. The game right now is very lax in term of base building, because the mobs don't really try to destroy your base or kill your citizens, especially during raids. They just gun it straight for the player. So some players cheese this by just staying inside the buildings and waiting for it blow over or just take the raid loss if they cannot handle it. There are many ways to cheese the game especially with attacking enemies through walls, or using resource materials like stones and logs as a indestructible barricade(only weakness are potmen stealing it).

Adult gamer time is gold. We don't have hours to burn on hype trains that derail at launch. Romestead respects that. It walked up, slapped me with a big old dose of good design, and proved city management, exploration, and hack and slash combat can share a room without tripping over each other. Priced fair right out of the gate. Huge shout out to the devs and publishers for shipping something worth our limited evenings. And here's where it really earned a spot in the rotation. Dedicated servers. Real ones. The kind that don't fall over the second your buddy connects. If you've been jaded by half-baked multiplayer launches, this one is the cure. Hosting for the crew? I walked through the whole setup so you don't have to dig through forums at midnight. [url=https://youtu.be/3x6IxOYUD0E]Watch the MMG server setup guide Found this useful? Drop a thumbs up. Quick, painless, and it pushes this in front of more grown-ups who'd actually enjoy it. Looking for a place to game with adults who don't ragequit or scream into a mic? That's what MMG was built for. For the people with 60fps and stutters: Search the settings.txt in local files and change the max fps there. Worked for me, everything smooth on 120fps now. That being said: its a 12.59€ game from a small studio on day 1 on early access. I played the demo around 20hrs and played a few hours now. For me its very promising, very playable and has (not seen everything obv) a ton of content at this pricepoint and stage already! For me its a positive all things considered! You will get way more than your money worth of hours out of this, even this early! Im having a ton of fun and am excited where this game will end up on full release!

After having put over 200 hours between the demo and playtest, this is a solid game. The amount of content you get for the price is well more than worth it. The early access release is very polished. This game has elements of top down survival/crafting and town building and old school Zelda: A Link to the Past style gameplay. If you enjoy either of those, you will have a lot of fun. Highly recommended.
