🌸💗 TOUHOU BLOOMING SOUL IS THE ROGUELIKE TOUHOU FANS NEED IN THEIR COLLECTION! REVIEWED ON: (GeForce GT 1030/i7-3770 ) I'm so happy this game came to be and I lived to see such a moment. I've been following this one since it first premiered off-Steam, playing it in th most confused way possible considering English was not implemented back then. I was even more hyped to find out the dev was aiming for English translation soon, and so I waited for the moment to come. Honestly, I rarely play games in original Japanese, and prefer to wait until they add other languages. But Hata no Kokoro has always been one of my top ten Touhou Waifus in the series, being that my hype here was beyond my understanding. Now, I've played many Touhou games and still have a lot pending to try out and purchase on Steam when I can, but truth be told I've been waiting for a Roguelike experience like this one, and Kokoro being the protagonist made things even more intense. The art is beautiful just like the music, I have not experienced any sort of bugs or frame drops, and the base gameplay is both satisfying and fun, being that thanks to a lot in it's system and updates each run while repetitive for most, feels different as intended. This said, I want to mention some important points of interest that to me made the experience enjoyable and unique: 👹 EMOTIONS GAMEPLAY: At first I thought this was going to feel more complex, but I guess it's all a matter of using the comfortable keys. I thank the dev for letting us change keybinds in the game since there are a lot of commands and skills to execute. In the game you'll be using joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness to try new combos all the time, each emotion has it's own buffs, and as you explore you'll be able to upgrade them and combine different skills to progress in the map and battles. You'll be able to switch from each emotion, but there's that little catch of cooldown as well. I find this balanced, a minimun reset is a need or the game would feel like a speedrun. With time the dev seems to be adding new skills and abilities, so the game at early stage has a lot of content to go. There's a lot of variations and each run puts your fingers to the test, if playing on keyboard. Although I use mouse as well. 👹 LORE: The game not only has plenty of character interactions to experience, but also background stories from the Touhou universe and fanlore. Each time you defeat a boss (I actually thought you had to defeat each one on a single map) and beat a chapter, you'll be able to also experience interesting scenes of each character and their past. So even if your Touhou knowledge is not the best, you will learn quite a lot as a reward for battling, as well as getting other prizes in each map obviously. 👹 FUJIWARA NO MOKOU: While she's not in my top 10, she's in my top 20 (Yes, I have top 20s for many Waifu series) and hear me out those who have not played this masterpiece yet- Once you battle her, you'll be able to recruit her from the town by paying red gems from your progress and play as her later on. This actually adds even more spice to the game being in EA stage. I hope the dev decides to add more playable characters. Even if the game has an end or whatever, trying out many Touhou Waifus and their own sets of skills and styles makes this game worth playing for hours nonstop. Tbh, I would not mind paying a cheap sum just to get exclusive characters, feels like this game would be extremely peak is every character presented would be playable. And of course, I'm talking for everyone here. There are a lot of Touhou Waifus, and as Touhou fans I'm sure you all have your preferences. Even if you're playing it as a fan of the series, and forcing yourself to play as Kokoro even if you don't fave her, imagine the posibilities using other characters! I personally would love to play as Reimu, Sanae, Reisen, Tenshi, Yukari, Alice, Sakuya, Marisa, Cirno, ect. How about the rest of you? ✨ TO CONCLUDE: Touhou Blooming Soul has shown it has potential to be a great Roguelike with a future, and possibly a GOTY if I could say so myself. There is a lot of love put into it, and the devs clearly know about the series itself so as to make the experience more friendly towards fans and newcomers. The difficulty is for you to decide, and honestly for a Touhou game playing it on easy and or casual, for many might feel like a crime, but in games like these it's actually very pleasing. One can experience a lot of a lot in a single run, without failing and having to start fresh. The game even gives you a choice if to leave EA map, or keep enjoying the chapters and each boss encounter for the time being. They really thought it well, so as to bring enough content to the table while the game is still being developed. So if any of you are here for Kokoro and or are Touhou fans then 100/10. And for any of you new to the series, looking for another Roguelike with Metroidvania mapping system in a way, or want more Waifu games for your collection, then this one is a must have. Let's all cross our fingers, hoping the game does not get abandoned, keeps up with the updates, and our constant support is enough to make it all last.

It's Dead Cells + Devil May Cry mixed with Touhou flavour in a nutshell. It works really well and the 4 emotion stances are not as scary as they seem at first (granted I'd like to get good at juggling all of them eventually) even though there's only 2 chapters so far, the idea is definitely there and it works really well + it's a very very pretty game. The backstory segments are also really cool and I think they make this game the best to get into the world of Touhou as a whole. To top it all off it's dirt cheap so I highly recommend it and it's nice to see the devs improve so much over all their games (the artist or artists? in particular)

mokou my goat is in this game as a playable character, instant 10/10. doesnt have english supported yet but i think the devs are working on that and you can figure out how things work without being able to read anything since theres images for the abilities and you can sort of guess what they do, gameplay is good and a bit difficult at times, but thats what id want in a game like this.

while still in early access the game offers more than enough content for its price. since its a roguelite, unless you know how to read simplified chinese you'll have a hard time playing this in any other language you know. (didn't stop me, i'm using this game as an excuse to learn) gameplay shows great potential, early game can feel a bit sluggish but once you invest your time into skills and learn how to utilize items properly it can be very fun. phenomenal artwork and soundtracks which are very inspiring for me, thank you for including jukebox and art gallery in-game!! i wish nothing but the best for the developers in finishing the game

Playing the game even though there isnt any EN translation yet. Since Hata no Kokoro is my favorite touhou character, playing this game is a blessing. For combat, it's a struggle since Im just picking out random items, equipments, and skills and hope it goes well, but other than that, very traditional metroidvania game. I havent gotten far yet as to unlocking Mokou, but so far from just playing Hata no Kokoro, its fun. Some skills are kinda jank with targeting or its just skill issue on my end. As for difficulty, I've been playing normal difficulty and it's about right for balancing. Nothing too hard, but also nothing too easy. In fact, by exploring the entire map, makes bosses in the next area much easier though its still possible to lose. Can't give any review for story since its all in CN, but I do like the CGs. All in all, I'm personally having fun playing it. My favorite touhou character is the main character, and there is plenty more coming. A lot of potential for the game.
