My favourite visual novel of all time, I had to buy it again on steam. I love that instead of making decisions, you rank the characters by how important you view them, which then changes how your character acts. The story is amazing, all the characters are really interesting to learn about, and in the endings you either learn more info about the story, or get more depth of the characters, so all the endings are worth getting. its pretty long, probably at least 60 +hours

i would prefer this timeline compared to ours to be honest, projecting zoomer memes into unknowing people is funny and similair lab disasters compared to black mesa a great vn that builds up on its mysteries gradually with many concepts and psudeo science that are thought-provoking and foreshadow too, i even enjoyed the lectures of this world cant wait for the ever17 remake soon its epic

A game that reminded me of one of my favorite series being Ever17. While many would denounce it as Ever17's clone... it's not. It's a story with a heart waiting to be understood...

Really solid. It was pretty interesting the whole way through, though it has some pacing issues, mostly related to flashbacks. By the end, I liked all the main characters. They turned out to be much more interesting than I initially expected; I thought some would remain relatively undeveloped, but the system worked well to ensure they didn't. Best girl was probably Salyu by the end, but it's a close call with all the girls, except maybe Yuuri. I liked the choice system in theory, but without a walkthrough, it can be frustrating to figure out how to navigate it properly, especially with the bazillion choices in this VN. If they were to use this style of choices again, I think they should either heavily limit them or mix them into regular choices. Ranking routes is difficult since they all had their good and bad points. Obviously, Root C is the worst since it was mostly a shortened recap that explained only a handful of things from Root A and served more as a lead-up to Root D. Root A was definitely the most consistent. It was probably the least character-focused of A/B/D but still had enough to be interesting. This felt like standard thriller material since the level of magic was kept to a minimum and barely explained. Some moments hit really hard, to the point of feeling like a real horror VN! Root B was slow, but I appreciated the focus on character development. It was nice to see Mashiro and Salyu develop after having little to no screen time in A; at that point, I was worried we would barely get anything from them or Natsuhiko. Root C, I already mentioned. Root D overall was enjoyable, but I have mixed feelings. The grand ending invokes the optimistic "power of bonds" and takes the uhh magic to a crazy level. Thankfully, they built it up well enough that it wasn't too jarring, but relying too much on a certain character felt excessive for me. The flashbacks did help clarify all nine characters' motivations, but they went on just a little too long—especially since we had to go through five characters' worth almost in a row. That said, the net gain was nice since it made me like all the characters more. Getting to the grand end was super cheesy, but the reveal of a lot of truths made the relationships better. Everyone arriving at the same conclusion felt pretty cheesy, though. I liked the way the 2 main protagonists interacted here specifically. Given how they ordered the events and how the Xtend Edition adds even more flashbacks, I think it would be fun to do eventually a chronological playthrough, though it'll be annoying to sift through flashbacks from Natsuhiko's perspective. I'd like to try that eventually. My Rough Rankings of the Main 9 Characters would be something like this: * Ukita: Was interesting enough though he was kinda just there most of the time. * Yuuri: Kind of your typical nice shy girl but still had sweet moments. Probably the least interesting girl overall but still likable enough with some intriguing twists. * Natsuhiko: Mostly felt like a bland OP main character, complete with indecisive harem shenanigans. Had his moments. * Jun: Fiery and never boring! * Ena: Probably the most interesting of the adult females, which says a lot since they were all good. Her personality fit her role as a teacher perfectly, showcasing a wide range of emotions. * Watase: Definitley one of the better done "Amnesia" protags. * Kazami: Very interesting for sure. I suspected from the start she had depth. She exemplifies the flaws of being overly attached or loyal to a fault. * Mashiro: The most fun member of Natsuhiko's gang; with my favorite emotional plot twist. * Salyu: My overall favorite because of her journey from an emotionless girl to someone who understands emotions. Not super original by any means but still done well. The fact that she casually did push-ups when bored in her bedroom to become as strong as adult men was hilarious. Speaking of which, can I just say how much I appreciate that there’s legitimate adult age romance? More VNs should do this! I haven't finished the Xtend stuff yet, but since it appears to be all flashbacks previously included in the main story, I may update this write-up later if needed; however, it mostly seems like fluff so probably not. Overall, I liked this VN but it can be difficult to recommend it due to some of its pacing and annoying gameplay.

I love Root Double, it's a long read (honestly longer than it could've been lol) but it seems like the authors did their best to not allow a single plot-hole, which I really appreciate since the VN felt truly complete at the end! It has a very smart plot centered around sci-fi elements and it's like a satisfying puzzle that slowly gets put together into one picture. The twists are insane and I'm genuinely impressed by the creativity that went into the story. The difference between the impression of the plot I had at the beginning compared to when the mystery gets revealed is immense! Additionally, there is interaction, however not in the traditional sense where you just pick a reply/action. Instead there's a whole system where your actions are determined by the amount of trust you put into certain characters. It can be tricky at times to guess which adjustments are required for specific endings but luckily there are helpful guides if you're unsure. I was honestly a bit overwhelmed by that function at first but I ended up liking it! I enjoyed the variety of endings as well, though I'd never be able to get all of them if guides didn't exist lmao. Now let's get into probably the only flaw: this VN is known for having pacing issues and in my opinion the worst ones are during the "Before" chapter, mainly due to lots of boring slice-of-life moments and a decent amount of actually unnecessary flashback scenes that don't provide any plot-relevant information. Also afterwards, despite the story moving forward, there are additionally many flashbacks of scenes that you've already played through (which is sometimes kinda necessary due to the plot, yet still annoying, since it's just repeating already read progress). At the end I didn't find that horrible but just somewhat irritating. Besides that I kinda found the teenage characters often aggravating and really preferred the parts that focused on the adults, who I found way more interesting altogether. To summarize, I really enjoyed this experience and the well thought-out story definitely justifies it's time-consumption. I loved the art & music, as well as the atmosphere (I kinda got Chaos:Child/Head vibes sometimes, despite the stories not being alike at all lol). Overall I can totally recommend this to fans of mystery and sci-fi!
