Very useful, takes some time to figure out. After a while, you get good, and are able to do more complicated stuff like full cutscenes, adding pictures to your game, and more! Very useful for non code and code. They have a built in script maker. The only thing i don't like is that the plugins don't work very well. (or maybe i just don't know how to use them.)
using rpg maker to mod games and stuff that use it as a software, and honestly, it isn't a bad software. from my little experience with gaming softwares, it's easy to understand(after some hours of trial and error), and everything is organized nicely. HOWEVER. BIG HOWEVER. it crashes constantly. especially when saving the project, which can cause you to lose a lot of progress.
Pros: Modern assets Has comunity that contains a lot plugin Can add Javascript based plugin. Change anything into what you want Most files use JSON, which is easier to read the file compared to RM2003 Cheaper than MZ (For now) Cons: Some parts restricted like mapping, unlike RM2003 which has upper and lower layer Might be high learning curve when doing customized game engine (Mostly add plugin) Overall recommended
