This game is genuinely incredible. The gameplay is snappy and engaging with easy to understand RPG mechanics and a control scheme which is quite intuitive. There are also a huge number of weapons in the game which adds a lot of flexibility to your builds. The weapon evolutions are also all very cool though you won't know which ones will evolve until they do. The weapons variety in Ruins Seeker reminds me of FromSoftware's Shadow Tower with just the sheer number of weapons exist in the game and how they vary from medieval fantasy to magical girl staffs to semi-sci-fi weapons. It's all great fun. The artwork in the game is also quite well done. The character drawings show a lot of character and compliment the detailed pixel art that makes up the rest of the game. Moving away from the combat, the characters that you encounter throughout the story, while fairly archetypal, do a very good job of fleshing out the world and painting a picture of how life differs for those whose lives interact with the dungeon, "Heaven’s Ladder." Heaven’s Ladder itself is very cool. For a large portion of the game, it reminded me a lot of The Abyss from Made in Abyss. While the two turn out to be quite different, the mystery and sense of wonder evoked by the two are fairly similar especially when looking through the characters' eyes. The best parts of Ruins Seeker are the story and the main characters, Quem and Vise. Quem and Vise are perfect partners. They form a classic duo with contrasting traits, like Quem's impulsiveness versus Vise's cautious nature, which make them very endearing. The chemistry they have together is so perfect and heartwarming that I can't believe there isn't any yuri in this game. The main story is initially presented as a run-of-the-mill RPG plot but is actually wrought with mystery and interesting character moments. The history and lore of the world intertwine with the main plot, and Heaven’s Ladder's gimmick, in such an interesting way. The ending of the story does a great job of tugging at your heartstrings in the best way possible. Overall, the story of Ruins Seeker is the game's greatest strength as even the side-quests are interesting and filled with lore. Quem and Vise's story is definitely one I will remember for a long time. The game does have a free patch available from Kagura Game's website. I would encourage anyone who plays this game to install the patch as it includes more than just NSFW elements. It also includes voice acting for the characters and some new content for the game's dungeons and combat systems. Additionally, if you don't want to see any of the R18 elements of the game, you don't have to at all. So long as you install in after the opening part of the game the main story doesn't include any of that stuff. Thus, the only way you'll see it is if you lose a battle, which can be easily avoided with proper preparation, or if you take on 2 of the optional bounties or interact with 1 specific NPC. So long as you avoid those things, you won't see any of it but you'll get to enjoy the rest of the amazing story with voice acting and bonus content. The game though, does have its faults. Some of the text does run past the borders of the text boxes, cutting off some of the dialogue but this usually isn't too much of an issue. Additionally, there are typos and translation errors present in the game but most are in the starting section of the story and prove to be harmless. Finally, the very ambitious final dungeon section and boss fight push the game engine to its limit meaning lag is going to happen. This may cause some animations or effects to fail to play or appear or cause the game to not register some inputs. Despite these issues, the final section of the game is still very exciting and emotionally charged and tends to run at around 80-90% of its normal performance rate in most sections. TLDR: Ruins Seeker is a great game with intuitive mechanics and a wide variety of weapons and spells to choose from. The characters and art go far in fleshing out the world. The main girls, Quem and Vise, alongside the main story are the highlight of the game and take you on an emotional journey with a heartwarming conclusion. I recommend installing the free patch for the voice acting and the full experience of the game. This game will provide around 9 great hours of entertainment and is well worth the purchase. There is also a 2 episode anime OVA which was produced by Sakura Circle that I have not seen yet. I will update this review after I have done so. Edit: Don't watch the anime. It's not great and as it only has 2 episodes it doesn't tell the whole story. Overall, the superior version of Ruins Seeker is and will probably always be the original game. That being said, the best part of the anime was once again Quem and Vise and their relationship.

A great game, but less good for gooning, as it lacks a gallery option. H-scenes are animated and have some moaning. Good on sale for a good action RPG.

Came by lust but stick to the game with detailed story and enjoyable fights. Wouldn't expect this game will be this good even without lewd elements afterall. จัดเถอะครับ เกมสนุก คุ้มราคา

A very fun 2D action RPG. You absolutely need the get the patch to get the full experience. Without the patch you would miss critical assets, like voice, animation, key plots (even if we disregard the h content). The gameplay features an extensive weapon collection for you to choose from. It's satisfying to level up your weapon, figure our your favourite set-up, and become OP. The story is engaging and touching. The h contents are like icing on the cake and doesn't distract you from the core gameplay, which I really like.
