Savara is not a Hades clone, despite its art style being a mix of Hades and Wakfu. Approach game play like it is a Hades clone and you will feel frustrated beyond belief as you take unavoidable damage and hit enemies with wet noodles. As other reviewers have pointed out, game play is closer to monster hunter. You learn enemy patterns and use open windows to wind up big attacks to chunk enemy health bars. Stamina management is key with weapon swapping being a backbone mechanic to keep yourself topped off. Embrace this and combat becomes quite fun. 10 hours in and still having a blast. Outside of combat, the meta progression is satisfying if a bit slow when it comes to getting weapons to level 10. The ability to customize armor appearance and color is great to make Savana your own. A few negatives do exist. The third area has a notable difficulty spike that does not feel smooth at all. I-frames are extremely short to non-existent when you get hit, meaning you can get comboed from full to dead really fast if you are unlucky. And finally, a talent exists basically removes a key gameplay mechanic from the game. Both a blessing an a curse, this does address the frustration of encountering enemies that resist both your weapon types but feels like a cop out. Edit: I am now about 40 hours in and have completed all newly released steam achievements. The game has remained consistently enjoyable throughout that time, though some of the achievements were a little unclear. I would like to add that the boon system in this game feels really balanced. They all feel different and do different things, but all are viable and fun. I have even done runs avoiding them aside from a few mandatory passives and just stacking health/gold for some badge damage. I do wish there was some kind of resource sink once you forged/unlocked everything, since you end up with thousands by the end.

Very basic. Not terribly deep. Requires some adapting to the slow nature of combat. It was kinda advertised as fast paced, but it's more of a methodical brawler. Do runs, unlock permanent upgrades, rinse repeat. The story is forgettable, even as someone who played Wakfu and Dofus. Basically no lore outside of some of the text on passive artifacts. Bosses are very easy and fairly one dimensional. They usually have a basic moveset and a rage moveset when close to death. Learning to parry beats all content in the game, so your arsenal will basically always be sword and shield, and use the other waepons if you want to make the game harder or try and speedrun with heavy attacks. Overall it's enjoyable, if extremely simple. You'll get a good 10 hours out of it before you start just wanting to do runs to unlock specific pieces you might want to try. None of the items you pick up in the arena feel they drasically change your playstyle. It's basically just your weapon and armor choice going in. All the passives you pick up from the Hades copy paste upgrades feel forgettable and honestly pointless. You're better off just getting "combos do more damage" or "heavy attacks do more damage" and stacking stamina upgrades. I hope eventually they make the Lop/hades upgrades more impactful. It's almost detrimental how basic they feel. Some of the upgrades just straight up make your build worse if you try and focus on them rather than just ignoring them. This game would definitely get a thumbs down if not for the aesthetic and combat being pretty solid. It's a very safe Hades clone with no real personality of its own. It feels very disinfected, if I had to give a term to the feeling. I wont thumbs down the game because it doesn't do anything really bad, but it really doesn't do anything good/shining either.

Fun but lacks content. I beat the game and a few rounds of prestige pretty quickly. One QoL feature needed: If game shuts down or you retire, it should still give you all the meta progression currency you accumulated that run instead of resetting back to before the run

A small dev team has put a lot of love and passion into this game, and it shows. Savara could be described as "Hades meets Monster Hunter" : fight creatures of different sizes, collect their body parts and craft your weapons and armor. Do not expect it to be as fast as Hades, its combat is slower but still very interesting and satisfying. The game is mostly light-hearted and has a simple but fun story, with some great characters. I also had a lot of fun trying to find some easter eggs and references hidden throughout the game. In summary, I definitely recommend Savara, it is a great game with a lot of replayability and fun unique features.

Cool game that gets straight to the point. Clearly they had a lot of financial limitations, so they limited the scope of content. Thankfully, this allowed them to really focus on what they have and everything is either good or great, especially the combat - the enemies have impressive models and animations while the gameplay is not too far from No Rest For the Wicked but with its own spin. Basically, it mixed Hades' structure with No Rest for the Wicked's combat and added its own stuff in a satisfying way.
