As an old player who has been playing SCUM since [September 18, 2024], I wrote this text today not to vent my emotions, but to record a disappointing official interactive experience. [The cause of the incident] Just a few days ago, I found that my SCUM account was banned. My first reaction was confusion, because I had never used any cheating software and had not violated the rules of the game. I contacted the official support team of SCUM (Bohemia Interactive Support) at the first time to try to figure out what happened. [Official response] The reply of the official customer service is very fast, but also very "fatal". They confirmed that my account was mistakenly blocked by the "old version of the anti-cheating system". That is to say, I am innocent and it is the fault of the system. However, the next sentence made me completely cold: "We no longer use the anti-cheating scheme, so we can't access the relevant records, and we can't modify or revoke the ban." [Absurd Reality] It's like the police caught the wrong person and locked you up for several years. When you complained, the police station told you: "The case handling system has been scrapped and the files have been burned, so we can't prove that you are innocent, and you can only continue to be locked up." Because the official system was replaced, the misjudgment of the old system became a "permanent case". They admit their mistakes, but refuse to correct them. [My loss] It's not just a matter of an account. On this account, I invested hundreds of hours to build a base, accumulate equipment, and even invest real money to buy assets in the game. Now, because of the technical iteration of the official system, all this has been cleared. What's more ironic is that I'm not even qualified to "complain", because the judge who judged me (the old system) has "died", and no one can overturn its judgment. [Concluding Words and Appeals] I understand that game development needs to update technology, but I can't accept that players pay for the "technical debt" in full. If the official can erase the player's historical data because the system is disabled, then where is the player's trust in the game? I hope the SCUM team can see this article. Since you can't unblock your account, please at least face your mistake: 1. Please issue an announcement on the official website to inform players that the old version of the anti-cheating system does have the risk of being blocked by mistake. 2. For those players who are mistakenly blocked due to the old system, some in-game compensation (such as props, gold coins, etc.) will be given, instead of a cold sentence of "powerlessness". Our players support not only the game itself, but also the sincerity of the developer. I hope the official can give a reasonable explanation instead of letting us leave with regret. Short Ver: Try it if you’re curious. Skip it if you’re not. It’s one of those things that sits in the middle: interesting enough to give it a shot, not essential enough to lose sleep over. ---- Long Ver: SCUM is basically what happens when someone looks at survival games and says, “What if we added more systems?” and then refuses to stop talking for the next 47 hours. On the surface, it looks like a survival game. But underneath that innocent disguise is a full-blown life simulator disguised as punishment. You don’t just survive. You manage metabolism, vitamins, digestion, stamina, body mass, and probably your character’s childhood trauma if the devs get enough time. Graphically, it’s actually pretty solid. The world has that “post-apocalyptic Eastern Europe but also slightly cleaner than reality” vibe, which is oddly convincing. Trees exist. Buildings exist. Sometimes even performance exists, which feels like a limited-time event. The depth of systems is impressive in the same way a tax form is impressive. You admire it, you respect it, and then you quietly wonder if anyone actually enjoys filling it out on purpose. Everything affects everything else. Eat wrong? Congratulations, you are now experiencing consequences in 12 different physiological categories. And yet, somehow, it works. Not gracefully, not elegantly, but it does work. There is a strange satisfaction in slowly turning your prisoner into a hyper-optimized survival machine, assuming you survive the learning curve, the UI, and your own confusion. Combat feels weighty in a “please don’t let this be desync” kind of way, and PvP can swing between tense tactical encounters and sudden philosophical discussions about why you trusted a guy named “xX_BoneCollector_Xx.” The real charm of SCUM is that it never pretends to be simple. It actively rejects simplicity like it owes it money. And honestly, that commitment is kind of impressive. Exhausting, yes. Unnecessary in places, absolutely. But consistent. In short, SCUM is not a game you casually play. It’s a lifestyle decision. One you question regularly. And then, for some reason, you queue up again anyway.

August 2022, First day on scum I was like : " WTF?! " What am I doing. Scum is basically my first survival game, or this type of game I ever played. A multiplayer, server based game. I used to be so nervous going around, don't know what to do. But I did fell in love with the game. Since then a lot have changed. It got full released, new NPC's a lot of good stuff. There are still some stuff that needs working on, but the good stuff are much more then the bad stuff. You can always find something to do. If you like single player, or MP, you can find it. PVE, PVP, role-play, Hardcore.... high loot, low loot, whatever you want. Even when I do have a break from the game from time to time I always come back to it. Especially recently with the new loot system, new NPC's behaviour, new traders system.... and I'm sure this game will only gets better and better.... For a new player it will look complicated, especially with the metabolism system, Which is a unique feature of this game. But as long as you play it, you will learn the system. And there are always usefull videos you can find on the net. So I hope you'll enjoy this game like I am and I hope there are much more better thing to come for this game The Devs are doing an amazing job

People have such interesting expectations of what developers should do. I get it, people with 1000 hours in the game want something very specific to keep them engaged, and have their personal opinions. First off, the toilet humor isn't even a big part of the game. It is mostly evident in the trailer... yeah the game is raunchy and hilarious at times, but at heart it is a hardcore survival game. And you have options of how casual/intense you want to play based on server choice. Take the time to learn the game and get a grasp on how to survive. Solo or with a group, find the right server for you. I've been having fun in SCUMDumpster. Has a great mix of PVE and PVP. Nice people in the server as well. Okay, this is one of the best games I have ever played... I hope you all give it a try and can get past some of these picky reviews. I understand that we all have views of how a game should progress in development. And no development team usually has all the resources to do it all, or the possibility of making everyone happy with changes made. And game creativity is often hampered by the underlying need for financial success. It seems like this update is catered towards making the PvE more engaging and nuanced. The NPC's are not a walk in the park lol. Folks, let's be grateful for all these amazing games we get to explore. And let's be grateful for how much leisure time we have in our lives. If you have enough leisure time to put 200+ hours into video games, then I'd say life is pretty good. Step back and have a more open perspective on our gaming in 2025, these video games we are playing are wild... use your imagination and subtract 20 years. That's not a long time, and dang, look at these games we are playing. SCUM is one of the good ones, and I hope they continue to develop the game and keep things interesting. Give it a try, I fell in love with this game and I'm not even a big survival game player. Okay, take care everyone and I hope you all have a good day. I'm sure I'll get some hate for this post. But what would the internet be without anonymous donkeys lol. Cheers.
