The core flow of the game is the same as lethal company: - Pick a planet, fly down, die a bunch while collecting loot towards a quota, turn to the space station and deliver the loot. Pros for me: - The idea of having to locate and find different security clearances to get you access to higher tier loot. - The loot is sometimes interesting. Having additional effects or chaos aspects that are uh... unexpected 😂 - The quotas seem manageable and it rewards you for exceeding the amount you need. - You also get three full day/night cycles to reach that quote, enabling you to do more of the exploration/puzzles regarding the security clearance. - Lots of fun collectables you unlock after each run, presumably able to get these unlocked more quickly with higher tiered worlds. - The beginner world is a great introduction and very forgiving on the constant stream of death. You wait roughly 30 seconds to "respawn" for free (minus dropping your loot/backpack), and then you're back at it. This is a big improvement over Lethal Company where you stayed dead for a long time, and dying was equally as easy. Cons: - The Maps do appear static layouts, however the loot/enemies/puzzle pieces (like the codes for the security clearances) are entirely random which evens it out. - The initial few runs, you will die a lot because your suit isn't leveled up yet (no xp) and you have no idea what you're doing (no tutorial). You can also only use xp after completing the 3 day cycle and returning to the station. But after about two completed runs, you will die a lot less simply because your weapon does more damage and you are not as low on health. - Theirs only one Tier 1 planet (with three landing spots), and they cap your leveling at 30 in Tier 1. This seemed fine, initially, but tried our first Tier 2 level (dinosaur based Gaia) and could not even leave the landing area without getting one tapped by something. Will try a few other planets to see if the RnG just kinda bit us for enemy spawns 😅
Got the game in 2024 played over 10 hours we enjoyed a lot and moved on because of well nothing to grind on it was fun but we felt we play as there is nothing to gain. I will suggest specialy if you like a co-op game where you spend time with your friends screw around progress unlock cool stuff and have a good time!
Quality, Quantity, No Microtransactions and a Ton of Fun. Of all the offshoots there have been from Lethal Company, Sketchy’s is hands down my favorite. The level variety, amount of weapons, collectibles, enemies, upgrades, armor sets is frankly absurd and I’ve never had a single crash in multiplayer. This is how games used to be made and in a better game industry, still would be. For under $10 it’s worth every penny and then some. The latest update has made a few much appreciated changes to gameplay and as far as I’ve seen thusfar, only 2 that I’ve had any issue with. Automatically replenishing night vision energy after deactivation as opposed to having to recharge on a wall unit is a godsend as dark as this game can get as well as increased health regen speed in the medbay and auto revives by default. All of the new little details added to the different maps are great too. The only two issues I have is that only having 1 planet for Teir 1 to build up loot for Teir 2 is a bit limiting, as especially the snow map was one of our most played maps to do so previously. Secondly, while auto regen in safe zones as opposed to wall chargers is appreciated the insanely increased depletion of Oxygen now needs to be fixed asap. The degeneration rate was honestly fine as it was before, just enough to be able to explore areas in full with O2 levels upgraded, but still keep you on your toes, now even with fully upgraded O2, it is depleted in around 30 seconds (despite literally being upgraded to provide several hundred seconds). You have enough to get to maybe 1 or 2 crates in Teir 2 before having to run all the way back to the safe room and you’re likely to lose half your health if you go for a second, some are flat out physically impossible to reach without dying now, that just don’t work. Still love the game, but that O2 issue needs to be addressed in the next patch.
My personal favourite Lethal-like game out there. Lots of different loot & treasures to do & collect, regular updates & special events, a responsive dev, lots of different maps & threats to deal with, a fun lobby to wait for your friends in, and lots of cosmetics to unlock & decorate with.
