People have latched on to the "AI slop" buzz words because thats what they've heard and so they just regurgitate it. Is AI bad? Is using AI for voice lines bad? Are small developers obligated to keep voice actors employed? I don't condone AI scraping art off the web, but if a small dev needs to use AI to make their game, I'm good with it. Is the game good? Yes, its fun, tongue in cheek, and actually has some polish. For me, the main question, is the game entertaining, and worth the money? Absolutely, and I'm enjoying it.
I picked up Sodaman for the price of a few sodas, and somehow it delivered more entertainment than the actual sodas. The game wastes absolutely no time. Within minutes you’re already blasting through enemies like you accidentally drank a 12-pack of energy drinks mixed with liquid confidence. The progression is fast, the action is nonstop, and before long you’re so overpowered that the enemies should probably be filing complaints with HR. I usually hate games that take 10 hours to “get good.” Sodaman basically walks up and says, “Nah, here’s a ridiculous weapon, go cause problems.” And honestly? I respect that. For the cost of a couple drinks from a gas station, you get a surprisingly addictive game that lets you become an unstoppable, caffeine-fueled force of destruction almost immediately.
**Game was Early Access at the time of Review** This game is shaping up to be one of my ALL-TIME favorite Roguelites. It has personality to spare, and some of the WORST voice acting I've ever heard, which really amps the flavor for some reason?? I love it. The action is intense, the leveling is well thought out and the replay value is off the charts! (This is going to be key in finalizing the game guys..) VERY well done!
