With the Project Re-Rainbow mod installed, this game becomes an absolute blast. Fun level design, the wisps are a fun gimmick, everything looks gorgeous. Without the mod though, the game looks absolutely hideous, and if you're not in a position where you can install mods then I can't in good conscience recommend the game. The writing is also TERRIBLE, some of the worst in the history of the series. Out of all the games, this one could've really used a fabled "Ian Flynn rewrite". overall i'd give it a 3/10, and the re-rainbow patch a 6.5/10. This could easily be one of the best games in the series if the patch was made official and the writing was redone.
This Sonic Game was my childhood I used to play it on the Wii and DS I know the remaster has it's flaws but it's still fun to play and the soundtrack it just so nostalgia I could listen to it all day. I would recommend playing to experience it yourself but mostly wait till it's on sale.
